HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 Stop with the Yzerman love this s*** is getting really annoying I know right!!! OMGZZZZ!!!!!! The greatest Captain in the history of sports who took a paycut to play his last season with us. Basically, the man who made the word "Captain" actually mean something. A guy who can legitimately go his whole life by just being called "Captain". I can truly say that if you feel this way about Stevie, then not sure where your heart is when it comes to hockey fandom. In this town, Stevie truly does no wrong. And being a patriotic American, that includes spearheading that damn Canadian team to Gold. So take the Stevie Y anger elsewhere, fella. That is all. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 No such thing. Went away with the CBA in 2005. How much is $1.7m worth to you? Where did you come up with $1.7m? More like $780k.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 4, 2011 Where did you come up with $1.7m? More like $780k. That still significant to a team like the Islanders, I bet. That team is far in the red.

Even Ellis hasn't proven to be a mistake, guys have down years and we don't know what's going on with him off ice either... with that said, no one is perfect and he is going to have SOME mistakes, that's not that point, the point is that he has done one HELL of a job with them as a GM and deserves the credit he is getting. He was taking exception to people acting as if Yzerman had done no wrong as Tampa's GM.

Meh... I know they did not pay much for Gange but he has been a disapointment so far. The key pieces like Stamkos and others were already on the team before Yzerman got there. He has done a good job so far I just dont think he is the god of NHL gm's
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 5, 2011 Where did you come up with $1.7m? More like $780k. Smith makes $2.2m and is signed past this season. $2.2m - $500k = $1.7m Yay simple math! Meh... I know they did not pay much for Gange but he has been a disapointment so far. How? He has acquired a skilled scoring forward (Gagne) for next to nothing, he has significantly improved the team's goaltending for next to nothing. What exactly were your expectations of Yzerman in his first season as a GM? That he would build the Bolts into a team that would win the Cup by the All-Star break? 2 teebo and evilmrt reacted to this

We're lucky they didn't fold after that reign of error. They've gone from being worse than Toronto last year to being second in the conference and on top of a very competitive, underrated division. Geef the man hees manny. 2 evilmrt and teebo reacted to this
