GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) Boy, scoring 50 goals has become like it was back when Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard were playing. A truly rare feat. I know we won't see a return of 80's or early 90's goal scoring anytime soon, but for only one player to do it in a league that's trying to promote goals, is pretty freaking lame. You'd think with all these powerplays and rule changes over the last few years, it'd be more common. God, I hate those damn butterfly goalies. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 With the way this season opened, I'm truly surprised at this outcome. Crosby was absolutely on a tear, and Stamkos was putting in pucks almost every game. Perry, however, was quiet. I guess that's why they play 82 times. Yeah, Crosby was on pace to score 60 goals and over 130 points. Still, it's pretty disconcerting to see only a handful of players hit 50 goals every year. I remember back in 2004, 41 goals won the Richard Trophy.

Liberation 11 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 To me at least, Corey Perry had a career year, I just think that when you face the facts, the best goal scorers in the league are Stamkos and Ovechkin and I say that because the way they score goals, we know players can go and score a lot of goals in a season, but to me Stamkos and Ovechkin are more of the pure skill goal scorers rather than just positioning which is what I see Corey Perry as and especially Crosby.
