Babs splitting up Pav and Flip in game three...

In game two, when Mule went out, and Babs put Flip on the first line with Pav and Homer...that was some of the best hockey I'd seen in years. Pav and Flip seemed to really, really have some great chemistry out there. I thought, at the time, that it would become 'the line' that carried us through the post-season. But no. Babs split them back up again in game three. Pav had a good game, but nothing close to game two. And Mule, aside from that breakaway, was pretty much a non-factor the entire game.

I don't know why, or if I'm alone in thinking this, but it seems like Pav and Mule are never as good together as you'd expect them to be. If I'm Babs, I'm giving that Pav-Flip-Homer magic another run. I'm getting that big second scoring line back together in Mule-Abby-Bert. I'm getting that awesome new-era grind line back together in Cleary-Helm-Eaves. I'm bringing Modano back - as we'll need another center with Flip on the wing - and I'm using his line sparingly.

Filppula-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Franzen-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi

Cleary-Helm-Eaves

Hudler/Draper-Modano-Miller

But I do agree. Flip and Pash had something working there for a while. The thing about it is and I must say I actually agree with you on this yowza.gif and that's this line Franzen-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi, was spectacular when together. Also, Cleary-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi has been stellar too. It has just helped Abby immensely to be out there with a guy who constantly works like Clears and a guy who can get separation and be strong on the puck as well like Bert. It just shores up the lines much better to have Flip with Huds and Miller. Makes those 2 way better and keeps it consistent throughout all 4 lines.

I think that some combination of Hudler, Miller, Draper and Modano would be more than good enough for a 4th line...that plays what, 4 minutes together a game.
