i think his breakout season was a combination of playing on the same line as thornton and nobody knowing who he was. once the opposition figured out his one skill they took it away.

He had genuine explosiveness and a very good shot. He was already a good pure goal-scorer before Thornton came in; the latter merely elevated him to a higher level. Major groin surgery makes everything in hockey more difficult.

Tootoo does NOT belong on this team. He is classless and I would rather see the Wings be bad than classless. I feel the same way about Bertuzzi as well, but he at least CAN make the team better. With Tootoo the team becomes worse and in danger of being classless. Would you have liked Claude on the team? Or Roy? No. So why would you be okay with that POS.
