newfy 695 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Its late and I dont have time to post all the links now, but I read on twitter that Montreal is looking to make a trade. Elliot Friedman tweeted today that there were scouts at the Montreal Florida game from several teams. Im infering that means Montreal has the feelers out a bit? Or maybe even Florida I dunno. But anyways Detroit was one of the teams with scouts at the Montreal FLorida game tonight. Upfront Montreal has Kostitisen and Moen coming off the books at the end of the year. I wouldnt mind Moen, not sold on Kostitsen to say the least however. Moen wouldnt really be good unless the wings sent back Miller. Lars Eller and Ryan White are both restricted after this year. I would like either to be honest for the right price. Eller is a young top 6 player potentially and White is a bulldog, reminds me of |Derek Dorsett. Versteeg is restricted for Florida at the end of the season. I personally wouldn't really want Versteeg or Kostitsen too much but they could add some good secondary scoring punch for the run. I dont see Holland trading for Moen or White really either just because his tradable assets will be saved for a bigger deal than that if he will make one. Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Montreal sits 1-5-2 after their first games in, but they would be silly to trade Travis Moen at this point. He's second in team scoring with 5 points. He's been the only semi-consistent player offensively, outside of Max Pacioretty. Also, outside of him, they are extremely small and soft. Until Mike Blunden was recently re-called, their fourth line consisted of a combination of Andreas Engqvist, Aaron Palushaj, David Desharnais, and Peterri Nokalainen was just acquired. I think Montreal could look for some grit for the bottom 6. Many analysts have agreed they are far too small up front. Erik Cole has been a huge disappointment so far, scoring 2 points in Montreal's first 8 games. Montreal needs to really shake things up, but trading Travis Moen isn't the way to go. e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Erik Cole has been a huge disappointment so far, scoring 2 points in Montreal's first 8 games. With what Montreal is paying him, this is a surprise to absolutely no one. He will be a disappointment to Habs fans no matter what. He is not a top-six forward, especially on this broken team. number9 3,297 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 With what Montreal is paying him, this is a surprise to absolutely no one. He will be a disappointment to Habs fans no matter what. He is not a top-six forward, especially on this broken team. He is definitely past his prime that's for sure. He needs an Eric Staal or a Rob Brindamour to compliment his style of play. Cole needs more size and grit to play with him and the canadiens need more size and grit in general. I think they thought one player like Cole would fill in this giant gap in their roster and it clearly hasnt. I worry that as tuzzi and homer age we will have this same problem. good power forwards are crucial and something weve always had. I hope abby can have a big season! but he seems more like a maltby to me. more and more it seems like weve been finding those smaller skilled players that others tend to over look in the draft. I hope this next years draft will be like the last, and we add some bigger guys. up front this time.
