In Topic: Detroit says Weiss "Not Getting Better", likely done for year

If a player comes in and thinks he can get paid and not perform, then I'm content with a player like that signing elsewhere- it's a favorable deterrent.

Only reason I think he's on drugs because of his demeanor in an interview, where he was almost goofy happy and his eyes were glazed over like he was on painkillers, which would also explain how he played through a sports hernia and now isn't getting better. besides, his production dropped a great deal after that wrist injury so I'd say it possible for sure, but I admit it is a bit of an unlikely long shot that I'm coreect about that.

If a playeris injured, I don't think you can buy them out. I Bet he knows there is a good chance of them buying him out if he doesn't make an impact over the next few games, so he's sitting tight so he can have a full season to make an impression next year. The guy's a turkey, and I think he's on drugs.

I think they need someone with a fresh approach to conditioning, this hasn't been working for at least a few seasons now

I've been saying the same thing since John Wharton left. it hasn't been the same since.

It's hard to say, but he does seem to be finding ways to get away with more mistakes than before at least. He's scoring more, too. Overall I'd say he still has a ways to go, but he is doing better and will continue to get better. His skill set is more appropriate for a forward imho, but he has a lot of tools that will at least make him a wildcard threat to the opposition on a regular basis. I don't think it is fair to say he will never be relevant because he crapped the bed in a series against the league's best team in a playoff series after his 48 game rookie season.

I say give him the rest of this season, and if he continues not to produce or really show much of anything, we use our other compliance buyout on him next offseason. we're stuck with him until then. He's definitely underperfomed so far, regardless of the excuses.
