The Wings always seem to be caught off guard when they get a two goal lead, and the other team steps it up a notch. Now we'll probably progress to the "opponents sub goalie plays his ass off" part of the game.

I wish that I could be confident that this debacle would force Holland to put together a team with some heart. But, instead, I fully expect to hear all of the Wing's shills start talking the same old s*** about how we have all of this great talent in Grand Rapids, and how we shouldn't have to look "outside" to get the cup back. I hope that the first person who hears Holland start touting the Wings farm system will drive his head into the plexiglass.

#2288548 Do the Pens Have the Cup Locked Up?

One of the aspects of a class team is how they handle adversity.  Especially when it's to the degree that's happened to the Pens.  Could there be any worse example of how they fail at this?  Unless maybe they killed a Flyer?  If it weren't so delicious to watch them implode, you'd have to shield your eyes from the carnage.

I'm glad I saw this game. Now, when the Wings are playing bad, and I start wishing we had some tough guys to "make them pay for beating the Wings," I can remember this game and know that I really don't want the Detroit Red Wings to be like that.

I missed today's game, but the Wings organization in the past year has started to remind me of the Wings back when I started following them. Back then, every year they would trot out Howe, Delvecchio, Marcel Pronovost, and a team full of Larry Jeffery's and Billy MacNeil's - average, journeymen players. And they competed in the playoffs, but were never good enough to go very far. That's what we have now - Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, and a bunch of nobodies, or once-were's. We may progress, but it won't be because of skill, it will be because of luck, or playing harder than the opponent - and I haven't seen that for a loooonnngg time.

#2283873 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Slowly through the years, I'm getting a grasp on the NHL's priorities.

A repeat offender (Weber) plays **** the Bruiser on Z, and gets less than a slap on the wrist.

A stellar player in NHL history (Lidstrom) gets suspended for how many games? for missing the all-star weekend when he was sick several years ago.

Who can figure?!?!?!?

Babcock either needs to play Hank and Pavs together or Kenny needs to find Pavs a LEGITIMATE WINGER in the offseason because Franzen simply does not cut it.

Other than that I think the Wings have a lot going for them in game 2. I think that that cheap shot by Weber will turn out to be the difference maker of the series because all Weber did was tick the Wings off... not a smart thing to do. GO WINGS!

Unless the Wings D-men are purposefully concealing their emotions, it doesn't SOUND like they are ticked off at all about the Weber hit. When Keating asked Kronwall and Stuart about the dirty hit, they answered in a wimpy, hushed tone of voice, similar to the tone you would use when reading a bed-time story to your kid. I doubt any of them have the balls to do anything about it.

If it were one of Nashville's scrubs that did it they might get a game or two, but since it was Weber he might get a fine but will not be suspended. Anyone remember the 2nd round in '09 when Niedermayer gave Datsyuk a blatant elbow to the head at the end of game 6?(he of course faced no discipline whatsoever) Bettman will not suspend any star player unless he absolutely cannot avoid it

oh, and Weber won't face any reprisal from any Wings' player either, this team doesn't have anybody for that

And don't forget Malkin in 2009!

Do we EVER win a faceoff in these situations?????

Err... yeah.

In 2010, the Wings won 3-2 at JLA. In 2007, the Wings won 4-1 in Montreal.

Some frustration I can understand, but comments like this take it too far.

I don't see all the games, so that's why I said I can't "remember" them winning in a long time. Why do you have to be such a flaming dickhead with all of your replies? Not just to me, but to just about everyone on this board. This place would be a better place without your presence. I would be very interested how many people you've driven off this board. But I'm guessing that would be something you're proud of.

This game is over. This is the exact same team that has folded when the going gets tough for how many years now?

OK, so the Wings "great play" somehow allowed 4 unanswered goals. But even worse, it appears that the Detroit News has "improved" their website to the extent that they've screwed up the Red Wings forum. Anybody know what those dickheads (the News) have been up to??

What??? The puck clearly bounced off the heal of his stick. It was a bad bounce, not a choke job.

Yeah, it was a bad bounce, but they still let up the last five minutes - being content to just flip the puck out of their zone, instead of skate it out, trying to create some offense. Those of us who have watched this kind of crap for years had that feeling in our stomachs half-way through the 3rd period.
Yes, they played hard - for about 50 minutes.

If the Pens get a quick goal to make 5-0, do you think they might switch to the Habs vs. Bruins - the game I really wanted to watch???? And, sorry, but I really don't care about "for the good of hockey," I'd like to see him get knocked out of commission again really quick.

The Wings must lead the league in the category of "players who are set up perfectly, firing the puck high or wide of the goal!!!"
