Hard to believe that it was 14 years ago today that Vladdy had the accident. What a crying shame. He has made a very solid recovery for the severity of his injuries. Get your Konstaninov jerseys out guys!

This is a shame but all things considered, it is probably the best thing that could happen for the Wings and Maltby as well. He probably did not want to play elsehwere and now I believe he will join the front office in some capacity (scout). Dude was outstanding in his prime and has taken far too much abuse on these boards. Makes me depressed to see him retire on a day wherein the Wings and Avs will be locking horns.

Complete and utter bulls***. A couple of the calls against the Wings were penalties but most of them were terrible. The thing that makes this worse is that on SJ's second goal there were TWO instances of cross checking while the Wings cycled in the Sharks zone, they go uncalled and SJ scores. That is just one time they failed to call penalties on SJ.
Now that I have said that, we cannot cry over this terribly spilled milk. We have to hope that the Wings put these two games behind them and focus on tying the series up at two.

The Wings have been showcased. Winter Classic, Sweden and they always have 4 slots on NBC. Yes, I would like them to play in another Winter Classic but I think other teams should have a shot at being in one before we see repeating teams.Would everyone be complaining if the Wings got another Winter Classic?

At the end of the day, regardless of his size, Hudler's production (last year) was right on par with Frolov's. Hudler was not logging the same amount of minutes as Frolov as well. So IF Hudler comes back, at $2.85 million, he is a better (and more realistic) option than Frolov.

I would rather have Hudler and Stuart for a bit more money than Frolov. I will never understand this love for him on these boards. Frolov had 59 points in 77 games last year while consistently playing in the top 6. Hudler has 57 in 82 while playing in limited minutes. Given the same ice time over a season, I feel Hudler's numbers would trump Frolov's. If Hudler comes back, he is at $2.85, Frolov will cost more. Stuart has played well. Yes, lets look at plus minus on the PK and blame solely Brad Stuart. That does not make sense. Stuart has logged a lot of minutes this year and as I have said, he has played well. It should also be noted that Stuart is an enabler for Kronwall to do what he does (jump up for big hits, pinch, join a rush). At the end of the day, Hudler over Frolov in my opinion but is Frolov wants to play for 2.8 million? Why not.

35-40 seems to be a reasonable expectation for a healthy Franzen although he can be a threat to enter the 40-50 range in the coming years if he and the team stay healthy. This chemistry with Datsyuk is quite exciting and with that new found chemistry we have a great setup man and a solid goal scorer so yeah, 50 goals could happen for Franzen but a lot has to go right.

How could you not understand? What are you, new? While it would have been great to have Hossa locked up for the future it is not realistic in the cap era. The Wings are not the Lightning of a few years ago and would not lock so much money up in Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen and Hossa (That is without factoring in Lids making over 7 mil and Rafalski at 6 mil). Five years from now, Hossa's production will have dropped and Filppula will be in the prime of his career and he will not even be 31 which Hossa is right now. In a non cap world, yes, Hossa over Flip but in the cap world, no. Personally I could careless about Hossa, he was unecessary last year and the team is well capable of winning without him (2008). Any Wings fan can tell you that Holland is not down with making rash decisions that will hinder the team in the future.don't count on it.
