. . I don't think that Flyers are stupid to trade Carter - but they would like to trade Briere... Montreal can't/won't take his huge contract and they have plenty of 5' centers... They might get Giroux or Hartnell (with one of K brothers)... More to come

Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/columnists...128911-qmi.html The names of Flyers forwards Jeff Carter and Scott Hartnell are expected to be in play if Laviolette can’t turn the underachievers around in the next few weeks. I'm trying to find Garrioch column...
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/columnists...2/12135876.html TENDER-ING OFFERS The Flyers are looking for a goalie. With G Ray Emery sidelined for six weeks following abdominal surgery, Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren has been keeping close tabs on Dallas G Marty Turco, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. It’s not known if Turco, who has a cap hit of $5.7 million (all terms US), is being shopped around by Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk. The 33-year-old Turco has a 10-6-7 record this season, with a 2.45 GAA and a .917 save percentage heading into play last night. With the Stars sitting in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, trading Turco wouldn’t make any sense right now. The Stars have been following the Flyers closely and Nieuwendyk has been scouring the NHL looking for a top-six forward. Philly is willing to deal C Danny Briere, but he has a no-movement clause. The belief is Briere, 31, who has a cap hit of $6.35 million through 2013-14, won’t agree to be dealt. Underachieving C Jeff Carter is another name that’s begun to pop up in trade rumours involving Philly. While Carter was tied for the team lead in scoring heading into last night’s play with 25 points in 29 games this season, it’s a far cry from the 46 goals and 38 assists he put up in 82 games in 2008-09. While Holmgren made the bold move to fire coach John Stevens and replace him with Peter Laviolette only a week ago, the indications are the Flyers have been doing a lot of talking to see if a deal can be made before next Saturday’s Christmas roster freeze. “They aren’t the type of team that sits idly by,†a league executive said yesterday. rage 24 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) I'd be shocked if they trade Carter. No way Dallas trades Turco unless they are out of it come the trade deadline. And good luck getting rid of Briere's contract w/ the NTC. I just don't see a deal here. Maybe Philly should call NYI instead. Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/phi091213.html Flyers eyeing Turco, Halak TheFourthPeriod.com The Philadelphia Flyers seem to be scouring the NHL for a new starting goaltender, with Dallas' Marty Turco and Montreal's Jaroslav Halak atop their wish list. The Ottawa Sun reports the Flyers are interested in Turco, while the Philadelphia Daily News suggests they're looking at Halak. According to the Sun, the Stars have been following the Flyers a lot lately and are in the market for a top-six forward, and the Daily News claims the Canadiens also want a top-six forward for Halak. The Sun suggests the Flyers are willing to trade Danny Briere, who has a no-movement clause, and Jeff Carter. Meanwhile, as a temporary solution, the Flyers have signed goalie John Grahame to a tryout contract with the AHL Adirondack Phantoms.

WMUCarGuy 8 Report post Posted December 18, 2009 trading Carter would rival the Thornton deal Boston made. I'd say it'd be worse since that would be trading your star player to another team in your division!
