The competition was sketchy in recent years. Gaborik was in the ASG a few years ago, but he wasn't even given a chance to do "fastest skater" and possibly break Gartner's record.

I've never liked that rule (despite living in a city where the hometown team hosted the last two WS). But you know what? Even though the rule makes no sense whatsoever, it makes the games more fun to watch.

We do have an identity. We're a .500 team. Been that way for several years now. That's called a consistent identity. Not a phase. We'll win some games, lose some games, battle for the last playoff spot, and likely get eliminated in the first round. The really good teams have a solid identity built on a playing style that results in wins more often than not. The really bad teams are the exact opposite. We're mediocre. That's our identity.

That's true, but it's always been wide open and full of goals. That's not the problem. The only way the game will become interesting is if they make it competitive. A game full of All Stars playing competitively is only seen in the Olympics. That's fun. A gimmick game where nobody tries or cares is not fun, whether it's 5 on 5 or 3 on 3. They need to look for ways to make the game competitive, so that we can see the best players giving their best.

Changing lines is always going to be tricky when it's 3 on 3. There's almost always a threat of a breakaway or an odd man rush. Teams are going to have to adapt to that. -

Soft play by Zetterberg. You can tell he and Datsyuk have lost a step (no crap) as they've had guys getting past them frequently on the defensive side of the ice. -

Let me b**ch as well. Wouldn't 10 skaters playing a 20 minute period result in guys having to log tons of minutes during that period? You basically have two lines and two defensive pairings per team. Each skater would have to average 10 minutes of ice time in the period! Hardly the "off night" the ASG is supposed to be. Either guys won't want to play or guys will be hot dogging it out there.

Not really. This is what the Wings have been for many years now. They'll win some and lose some. Limited talent. Barely make the playoffs. Lose in the early rounds. This is not an anomaly but a pattern. -

Colorado should have just wore the Nordiques jersey. Or how about the jerseys they wore once they moved to Colorado? Before the Reebok bullcrap ruined their jerseys. I like the Wild's jersey. The colors reminded me of the North Stars a little.
