Helm and Abby will be the type of leadership you need when you have a young, rebuilding team. disney.com's contract doesn't hurt the team. The only trash contract is Ericsson's. Even that won't be an issue by the time this team is a cup contender again.

I'd be excited about this if I didn't already have myself convinced that AA will be the guy scratched. -
Considering Blash sticks with the same lineup despite not winning in 5 games, I don't think that being a basement team by the end of the year is all that far fetched. But at least when the playoff streak ends, the team can build to become a contender rather than build to keep a playoff streak alive.

I can deal with being a bad team and losing if it is to build towards the future. But the fact that it is happening to rely on the vets and not with the youth getting an opportunity to learn is what is pissing me off. Management has to be able to see that this roster is awful. But once again it is that ******* streak holding everything back.

At this point Im expecting Holland to be on the phone with Joakim Andersson to try to convince him to come back. because obviously the problem is that we don't have enough fourth line scrubs to put out there every game.

It's really easy to explain why. he is a second pairing dman playing as a number one. He is in over his head, which is no fault of his, but rather the fault of the gutless GM who assembled the roster.

If Mantha is so damn unimportant, why hasn't he been already traded for a dman while Holland has had the chance? He has basically been labeled as untouchable by management, but yet they refuse to play him. Like they always do, they will wait until they ruin him by forcing him into playing a style that doesn't fit him, and then he will be lost for nothing when he has little to no value. It's simply how prospects are treated in this organization this day and age.

Can you imagine if Babs treated the kids that way in Toronto? There would be rioting. If this team is gonna lose games, let the kids take their lumps. They can learn from it. This "rebuild on the fly" bulls*** does not work if you're not willing to make trades for elite talent. If you're gonna hang on to every prospect you have, at least tank a season so you can get a great one.

And we'd be a better team right now because of it In the end, neither goalie should be playing any more than 50 games this season. It's a s***ty, condensed schedule. There will be many back to backs and 3 games in 4 nights. Every team this year needs two quality goalies.

Is this because Mrazek scores goals? Because the game was lost because the team scored zero goals. And they are now on their way of having scored just 2 in three games. The team has outplayed their opponents twice this season. Mrazek does not fix that. -
These last couple games show how important Vanek has been. Offense has completely dried up.

I just mean that a team like Arizona, who struggles to make money, would have jumped at an opportunity for another team to give them money to help their own bottom line. -
For the Ducks it basically comes down to how willing they are to lose a big dman for nothing at the expansion draft. I feel they move Fowler by the trade deadline regardless of what they say now. Having said that, I'm not convinced Fowler is the guy Detroit should go for.

They should try to trade Ouellet now. rather than be forced to waive him later on. If he isn't in the future plans, it's time to move him. if injuries hit the defense, Russo deserves a look. -

You don't get OEL without a package that starts off with Larkin under any circumstances. We also cannot wait FOUR YEARS to finally acquire a defenseman. Mantha is exactly the type of guy you give up to get a guy like Trouba. You gotta give to get. We'd have to clean out the farm to land OEL.

It will definitely be easier to move Howard next summer if he can keep playing at this level all season. Though with a condensed schedule this season, it's a good idea to have to goalies who can get it done. We're gonna see a lot of back to backs and 3 games in 4 nights situations this season.
