Getting rid of Howard would be a lot like Chicago ridding themselves of Bickell. Holland would have to give up a player of value. Howard is a guy why will be lucky to be a career backup once his current deal expires (assuming his next 3 years are anything like his last 2). If we're lucky, he can be offloaded to a team for cheap during the season when a team has injury problems at the position. -

Nice to see Lindros get the nod. He deserves to be there. But overall, holy hell what a weak class compared to the last few. -

He isn't worth anything. His contract basically gives him little value. Getting rid of the contract itself would be a huge deal for this team. I'd be ecstatic to see us getting a 5th rounder for him in all honesty. -
The team has also had a lot of bad luck drafting goalies outside of Mrazek. Maybe their plan is to double up on goalies to ensure we always have someone with promise in the system. Other teams have great goalies seemingly grow on trees. We've managed to come up with one in a whole lot of years. I'm guessing they see it as an area they need to address.

I'd imagine they start by trading Lupul and Bernier. But even then they'd have to shed more salary to re-sign their own RFAs. Weird seeing a rebuilding team so close to the cap. On the flip side, it has been 100% media and fan speculation that Toronto will go for Stamkos. Babs himself has said the time is not right to go shopping in free agency. -

I remember when one of the beat writers said on Twitter the planets would have to align for the Wings to sign Stamkos. The Yotes acquired the Rags first rounder (20th pick). Chychrun fell in the rankings at last minute and was available at 16. Suddenly the Yotes were begging Holland to take Pasha's contract. Many little things had to go right for these events to unfold. The planets are aligning. -
