I feel like it's a combination of pre and post. They'll call every little thing against a team with a lead, and let a losing team get away with murder. It's how the league seems to manufacture its fake parity.

When did I ever say the Jets wanted Goose or Tatar? I simply said I don't think the Wings keep both. -

But Meyers DOES have a NMC. If they feel like trading Trouba now makes their team better, they'll do it. Sure they won't give him away. He has the tools to be a really good top pairing dman. It's not like he is gonna become OEL. If that was the case I'd agree they'd try and retain him. But with the expansion draft looming, many teams will want to move players for assets they won't have to protect. Combined with the fact that we will have too many important forwards to protect, which is why I think Tatar or Goose won't be a Wing next season. -
Lack of use is what I was hinting at when it came to the Smith half of things haha
-
His use of Ericsson and Smith tell me that analytics have zero impact on his decisions.

Trouba is a likeliest trade target because they have their other top dmen locked up. Come next summer when there is an expansion draft, their hand will be forced in to protecting others. So they can trade Trouba now rather than risk losing him next year for nothing. -
He is garbage. Nerves of glass. The guy has never recovered from s***ting the bed at the World Juniors back in the day. I feel bad for the guy, but some folks just aren't cut out for it. He is like the Jimmy Howard of the AHL.

Only thing I'd change here is to let Miller walk, keep Helm, and give Jurco a full time spot. Of course I think Okposo would be a much better fit than Radulov as well. But if we got Stammer I'd be able to stomach Radulov as a Wing. I'd also hope to keep Goose over Tatar, but one of them likely has to go at this point. -
Imagine where this franchise would be if the Yzerman/Yashin and Datsyuk/Gomez trades happened. We likely have none of those 4 cups. And would be basement battling with the Leafs lol

Best news I've heard all day
-
Exactly. People used to ***** about Datsyuk and wanted him traded once upon a time as well. Oops.
-
If Stamkos has interest in coming to your team, you open up that chequebook. He is a franchise center in his prime. He would nullify the loss of Datsyuk immediately, as well as be our best player by a long shot. Imagine our pp. This leaves us severely lacking center depth and a top dman. I don't think Yandle is the answer at all. Would love to see Okposo as a Wing though. For me, the dream is Stamkos, Trouba and Okposo. Easier said than done, of course. But if they can get Trouba or another top dman at the draft via trade, it would greatly help attract UFAs come July 1st. But finding a center is far more important than bringing in a guy like Radulov. Even if it is a band-aid solution at center to take some of the pressure off of Larkin and AA for a year or two. Obviously Stammer would give us a permanent one-two punch down the middle with he and Larkin.
-
Don't trust Oates with any form of offensive coaching at all after his stint with the Caps. But Todd Richards would be the dream. With the Houda news today, getting Richards as well would be amazing. Maybe with Babs out of the picture other teams will finally stop poaching our assistants as well. Definitely seems like they wanna have a guy at the helm (lol puns) that has experience working with Mrazek. I like it. It is such a relief to have management of the team show that they know where the issues are and making the right moves to fix them. *knock on wood*

Truth. His regular season debut was a train wreck as well. The concern was high knowing Ozzie was on his last leg. But he was never all that in GR either. He straight up made the team because we had no backup and Howard was waiver eligible. Him being an average NHL goalie is a huge over-achievement all on its own.

Trouba would be moved because the Peg has too many dmen. Why would they demand one in return? If they have a need on defense, they simply keep him. If they got a dman back in a trade, it's a prospect. -
Such a narrow minded way of looking at it. How about looking at the scoring of every player on the roster in the playoffs since Goose made the team? Do you know what you'll see? That NOBODY has stepped it up when it matters most when it comes to scoring. The playoff scoring troubles is a team issue, not a Nyquist issue.
-
He was an all star, he at times was in the Vezina conversation, he was named to team USA in the olympics. Hell, when he first started in the NHL debate there was even debate whether he even belonged there. Remember his debut? It was concerning. Just being an average goalie was him exceeding expectations. On top of that he has had his moments where he was among the best. But that's what separates him from the elite: Consistency. And he will never become elite, as he never has nor does he currently have the tools to do so. Mrazek, on the other hand, does.

Smaller players struggle to score on small teams. Like you said, he's secondary scoring. The difference between the primary guys and the secondary guys is the primary guys generate their own opportunities. Secondary guys need to play with players that allow them to play to their strengths. This is why Goose looked much better once he got off the line with Sheahan and Tatar. I mean, since Goose came into the league, when has this Wings squad ever scored goals in bunches in the post season? Datsyuk was invisible in the playoffs his first few times to the show as well. He'll get better.
-
Obviously. A lot of teams already have these things, however. I'm just stating that these are the specific needs this team has. Some teams have great high end players and nothing else *cough*Edmonton*cough*. All non contenders have different holes in their roster to fill.
-
He seems to be the frontrunner for head coaching duties in Anaheim yeah. I'm hoping they go with someone else because I think he'd be a perfect fit with Blash.

Needs: A top 6 center (not old) A top 6 winger who can forecheck A #1 dman This combined with the youth taking their game to the next level, the vets moving into reduced roles, and fixing the damn power play and this team is a strong one. The up and coming core of this team is young enough that if Holland has to spend some assets to make these moves happen, there is plenty of time to restock the farm (note: this is not me saying Holland should clear the cupboards to bring players in, just that he has to be willing to do what it takes, especially for the dman).
-
To show that the ENTIRE TEAM struggled to score, not just Goose. You're singling out one player over a TEAM issue. That's my point. Goose finished the playoffs tied for first on the team in goals. We had two players score more than one point. He was also a +2 despite scoring one point. So no, Goose wasn't the issue. Put Goose on a line with a center who isn't 80 years old and a rugged winger who can do the dirty work and I'm quite confident he has a much bigger impact than a lot of players on the team when it comes to the score sheet. Playoffs included.
