    Jim Bedard gone... Ferschweiler demoted

Nahh not at all. I've had my gripes with Blash, but unless we get more of the same next season his job should be safe. By the sounds of exit interviews combined with today's news of finding a new assistant coaching staff, my issues with Blash are on the back burner for now. And that is him being okay with sticking with that dreadful pp all season, and depending far too much on vets (even s***ty ones like Joke Andersson).

The whole team in 2006 scored a lot more than the current roster. Easier to do with a defence led by #5. What's your point?

Howard was simply never that great. He exceeded career expectations BY FAR as it is. But he will never be the guy a team wins with. Better suited as a guy to give a rebuilding team some stability in the position. You can't improve a goalie once he has already exceeded his ceiling. Mrazek just had his first full season at this level. It is not unheard of for a player to slump taking on a starting work load as a kid in the highest level of hockey in the world. Larkin burned out after a while as well. But once Mrazek had some time to rest up, he came back in the playoffs and gave the team a chance to win every night. He didn't regress. This just comes down to it being time to change things up after 18 years. Nothing more, nothing less.

Truth. It's when Goose started to tear it up that the team truly started to move towards the younger players.

This just shows that His production is down because the pp has been a train wreck. Which is on coaching, as with the players we had the pp should have been even better than last season. It was one of the best in the league before Larkin and Green came into the mix. And it certainly wasn't their fault the pp tanked.

We simply have better puck moving dmen than Kronwall. If he is gonna be on the first unit, at least have Green there with him. Smith should also be getting pp time.

The new pp coach straight up needs to have the balls to not gift Kronwall the spot of running the first unit. He should be on the second unit, if at all at this point in his career.

ECSF : New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

I think what he means is that the West has a lot more legit contending teams, where as the East has 3 at best (Caps, Pens, Bolts). You look at the teams in the west that made it and outside od the Wild any one of them could have found their way to the finals. And either one of those teams can give the best of the east all they could handle in a best of 7. But regardless, I do hope this particular series put things into perspective for a lot of folks. We have missing pieces yes, but our new core is very young and under contract control. Over the next 14 months the Islanders will have to fight to keep theirs together, all while being no better than the Wings are. Period. Just imagine where guys like Mrazek, Larkin and AA will be in 3-4. Likely dominant. We acquire one top dman and a brand new core is in place. Once that happens, the right pieces will be put with them to go for it.

I also feel like he may have stayed under the radar enough to not be asked for in trades.

I want this kid to be the real deal so bad. Even if they have to take their time with him. All the tools to be an absolute gem for the Wings.

ECSF : New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa only lost game 1 because of rust. 5 days off with NY coming right off a big game 7 win. The Wings looked better than Tampa more often than not, just continued to fall apart in 3rd periods. I chalk that up to tired vets and inexperienced youth. Islanders have guys like Okposo hitting UFA this summer, Hamonic wanting to be in western Canada, and their captain may very well hit UFA next summer. Wings are closer than they are to being truly competitive again, and they had to suck for years to get where they are. Would love to see the Bolts pull of a miracle and have Stralman and Stamkos return for round 3. They'd be up there with the Caps and Pens if healthy. Especially with their experience from last year.

ECSF : New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Like I said earlier in the thread, the Islanders are really no better than the Wings are at this point besides the fact their best player is better than any one of ours. This is not me saying the Islanders are a bad team, this is me saying the Wings straight up aren't as bas as many folks seem to think.

Add Jurco to the list of players having an impact at the tournament. I sure hope our coach learns how to finally utilize these guys next season...

Are you 12? Can you not have a civilized discussion without it being reduced to a name calling contest? How about keeping the thread on topic rather than argue over what insults are okay or not? Newsflash: insulting other members is against forum rules. Like I said earlier, perhaps you should read them.

That may be the case in the end, but Frk is bigger and does play a heavier game than Pulk does. He won't be pushed off the puck as easily, which may give him a shot at sticking around. He also works his ass off and has the right attitude on always trying to be better. He is a guy who will always work on the flaws in his game.

Perhaps you should read the forum rules before posting. It really is quite awesome. Sad that we'll never see greats like him honored in such a way ever again.

If injury is what prevents Kronwall from playing, they'll have him sit out his contract on LTIR rather than retire. Much like Franzen. If there is a cap recapture penalty involved, I'd imagine management would do whatever it takes to avoid it.
