As frustrating as things have been for a while now with the franchise going overboard on playing it too safe, this summer can make it all worth it. Hank is exactly right. It's time to be aggressive. The kids will get better, the vets need to step back into reduced roles, and a couple impact players in or just entering their prime need to be acquired and this team can contend again. And continue to do so for years.

No chance we would need to trade a first rounder. The cap hit itself has value to some small market team that needs to hit the floor. If anything we would have to trade a pick just to get one in return. Like trade a fourth rounder, get a fifth rounder in return. That's about as far as it would need to go to "sweeten the pot". The only way moving that cap would cost this team anything of any value is if the team taking on the cap hit had to pay out any salary for it. Like the Pronger contract, for example. That is not the case with pasha's contract. Zero dollars would be paid out.

If Subban is dangled this summer I'd say we even have an advantage offering a package with Mantha. We all know how Montreal loves their french players. They probably wouldn't refuse a trade involving a guy with Mantha's potential. They've wanted XO in the past as well... Mantha, XO, Sproul, first round pick. Get the conversation started. If Subban can be landed, the only prospect they should worry about holding onto as far as defense goes is Russo. He isn't french so he is probably safe.

I've always liked Smith and kronwall together. They'd make a solid second pair I think. Just gotta acquire someone to play with duke on the first and suddenly the top 4 looks really good. The key os to get Ericsson off the team. I wonder if AA will be sent down? A deep playoff run with the Griffins would be great for him. Scratch that AA being sent down was just confirmed on Twitter.

Just imagine that forward lineup if we could add Stamkos. On the back end I'd like to see: Dekeyser-Aquasition Kronwall-Smith Green-Marchenko XO/Sproul If we can't land a top dman, give Russo a shot. If we do acquire a dman, I'd imagine XO would be traded and Russo be given a year to be the go to guy for the Griffins. Either way, I feel Russo has the best shot at becoming an important part of the defense. Landing a top dman and/or Stamkos this summer makes the team a contender now. Getting neither I still like the future of the team, even if it means missing the playoffs next season. Blash just gotta put his trust in the kids. That's the key. Sure the streak is good business, but it is also short-sighted. giving the kids the reigns now, win or lose, is a big long term investment. The pieces are there. They just need to play and learn, despite their mistakes. Mrazek, AA and Larkin will be better. Kronwall and Hank will be effective again if their roles and minutes get reduced. Parting ways with Ericsson and Howard is VERY important this summer. I'd rather one of the kids make a mistake that costs us a playoff game than Ericsson. The kids will learn from it. E just sucks.

It's time to move Larkin and AA into center roles, and to make sure they learn all the tricks to winning faceoffs at this level. Down the middle it should be Larkin, AA, Hank, and Glenny. In that order. Hank is still a very important part of this team. He just needs to play less minutes during the season. Even during the rough patches. Agreed. If anything, I think he should be used a little bit more. I still don't understand why he is on the second pp unit when he is our only dman who can get a puck on net.

He scored 2 of the power play goals during his time up for god sakes. In a 4 game span. Which is twice as many as the entire team has scored in this 4 game series. f*** Jeff Blashill.

Without Mantha: pp is a dumpster fire. With Mantha: pp scored in 8 straight. Bad pp costing the team this series. What will Blash do to fix it? Probably play Pulk, the black hole of puck possession.
