Looking ahead to expansion draft ... If Vegas comes to the nhl etc
marcaractac replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I'd imagine we would definitely go with protecting only Mrazek in goal if they go about the expansion draft in a similar manner. Is it just unprotected main roster players that are up for draft? It would be garbage if they could poach players from junior and GR as well. I'd rather they just get thrown in with the basement dwelling teams for draft lottery day than to get a s*** at poaching other franchise's prospects. -

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
marcaractac replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well, yeah. Their best players are still in their prime. But when they do age, their best forwards and dmen will age out at the same time. -

He is a phenomenal player, no doubt. Little creepy at the end there, however. But if it helps you sleep at night, yes, Toews in his prime is better than 35+ Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Nobody would disagree with that. Toews, Datsyuk and Zetterberg when comparing their primes were/are greats. It is actually a crime Hank never won any Selke trophies. And if the Eurotwins had the benefit of playing on some of the teams as stacked as Canada, they'd have no doubt been members of the triple gold club as well. But enjoy it while you can! Great players don't stay young forever, as us Wings fans know very well. We've enjoyed cups with two generations of Wings already, while you guys are still on the first. Judging by your one and only post here, you guys probably won't handle the eventual downfall very well. We have the luxury of finding these great players while never drafting high. Time will tell if the Blackhawks can do the same. My guess is Wings fans will get a lot of enjoyment at your expense once Toews and Kane hit their mid 30's. -
I guess Yandle isn't old enough to be part of the Rangers plans going forward.

Only by Toronto media, however. I thought things were pretty grounded on Detroit's end on Babcock.

Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Not that I expect it to ever happen, but I'd be totally ok if Holland were able to land Drasaitil without having to give up Larkin. That's how you prepare for life after Datsyuk and Zetterberg. -

His offense scored zero goals in game 7 vs Tampa. But yes, all Henrik's fault -

100% agree with this. It just annoys me when people say things along the lines of Henrik being unable to get the job done. -

False. The team in front of him can never get in done in the playoffs. It isn't his job to score goals. -
Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
In the end I doubt Mantha gets moved. And he shouldn't, UNLESS it means getting a legit top pairing dman younger than 30. -

Of course they haven't lost a game 7. They wouldn't be in the finals if they have. Guess what that means? The Blackhawks haven't lost one either. -
I have zero doubts #13 and #40 will be in the rafters at some point

Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I am not one to doubt Mantha's potential, but a physical future power forward he will not be. He IS another soft as butter player, who happens to be really tall. The Yote's would never hose themselves that badly. -

Agree 100%, unless we can land a top pairing dman in/entering their prime. -

Who cares? This is a discussion board. And we are discussing the possibilities. If you think it is a waste of time to talk about it, then don't. -
Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

It's also been on CBC. No. We are just reasonable and can accept giving him up if it addresses a team need, like a top pairing Dman. -
Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Well, we could have probably had Phaneuf without the first. Ideally Mantha and the 1st gets us a top dman. If not, use a Mantha package for Dion and still have a first to play with. -

elliott friedman also confirmed it. Very reliable source there. Maybe they'll whip up a package including Mantha and our first to try and get the Yote's first rounder -

6 months ago I'd like like nooooooooooo. But with how quickly Larkin is coming along, and the emergence of guys like Little Bert, all is well if it is for the right piece. Gonna be an interesting summer for sure! -
I mean, he is only 29. A 5 year deal for a guy like Green would absolutely not be the end of the world. Especially if a longer deal were to lower the cap hit a little.
-
He took a one year deal with the Pens, to try and pad his stats playing with Crosby and Malkin to get another big payday. He underwhelmed. Big time. I'd rather see the team go with what we have than to bring Ehrhoff in at this point. Green has rebounded nicely since his injury issues. Sure he isn't scoring a point per game like he has in the past, but the Caps also don't play the same way they used to either. green is a righty who can likely put up 50 points. Would fill a great need on this roster. Sure it would be nice to have someone who could play well defensively as well. But those types of players just aren't available. Green would do amazing things to the powerplay. I by no means think it will happen, as no doubt someone will pay wayy too much.

Tatar is going nowhere.

When it comes to dmen only available through UFA, I feel Green is the best fit for this team.
