Exactly. If anything, the biggest problem of this team is not having another Dman capable of doing what he could do. Sure we have a couple guys who can keep getting better and perhaps get to that level. But we land another dman like that this summer and this teams chances at making a run get a hell of a lot better. Which is why I think Phaneuf would be a great fit.

Agreed. It always ends up being the under the radar depth signings that work out well. Like what Stuart was for us in 2008.

They can think what they want. Sure they made the second round, but the Wings have been more impressive these playoffs than the Habs by far. They almost chocked against the Sens for god sakes.

It has actually been turning me away from the league. Once upon a time, even when the Wings were eliminated, I'd be glued to the TV watching games every night. Just loved the game. These days when the Wings are not playing, the interest just isn't there for me. I root against teams like the Habs because I get tired of hearing about them. But that's about it. I haven't even watched the cup clinching game last year. Never in my life have I missed that.

Definitely not stuck with Weiss. If Holland wants to trade him, there will be a taker. No player is gonna refuse to waive any NTC if they are sitting in the press box every game.

This. Wings did a great jump slowing them down and taking away space. Habs are not, and are getting burned for it.

Breaks my heart it isn't the Wings doing this. I said for a while now that the Habs are by far the most beatable team in the playoffs. Without Price they are probably not even a playoff team.

True, but the Pens also still had some of their best players around all year to carry the burden. The Wings had un-experienced kids carrying the load almost all season. realgud

Mule's contract doesn't count towards the cap while he is on injured reserve. His contract does not hurt the team what so ever if he cant play.

Perhaps. But regardless, I do think what Babs accomplished last year was far more impressive. Obviously there is no way to prove it, but in imaginary land, I bet if Babs were coaching the Avs the last two seasons they'd have made the playoffs for both of them. Just to nitpick a little bit, if it was because of Roy the Avs finished 2nd last year, and missed the postseason this year because other coaches figured him out, then that IMO makes him a coach that couldn't adjust or change things up. I absolutely believe Roy belonged in the Jack Adams conversation. But I just think what Babs accomplished with the Wings was more impressive, and was the result of the best coaching.

Agreed. The kids showed a lot of improvement over last year, and I do believe next year they will take it even further. This year they learned how to win in the playoffs. Next year they must learn how to deal with finishing blow in a series. Against Boston they were overwhelmed. This year the started off the same way, but begun to fight back, and fight for space. I thought the kids got better as the series went. With a deeper blueline we'd still be playing right now.

Hence why it should be rebranded as the most improved team award. Besides that, were are the Avs this year? Oh right. They are back to being a non playoff team. I think the Avs last season had a lot more to do with overachieving than Roy being the best coach that season.

If the Jack Adams was legit, Babs would win it almost every season. But when it comes down to it, the Jack Adams should be re-branded "Most Improved Team Award"

I know what you mean. For me, even though they won, I have no reason to hate the Bolts. The Yzerman thing sure helps their case. I absolutely hate the Habs. The only bummer is that it won't be the Wings to knock them out.

If this happens and we keep Babs, it will be a great summer even if nothing else were to happen. We have depth up front, getting Dion here would give us depth on the blueline, and we have a great goalie tandem. I really do think it would make for a potential "go all in" type deal at the trade deadline.
