Truth. He is a poor man's Rafalski. Which is a hell of a lot better than no Rafalski.

We need to ice the best lineup going into the playoffs, not use it to let guys learn to play at this level.

I do think Janmark has upside. Don't doubt it at all. But he is far too unproven to have much in the way of trade value. While it would have been nice to package him in bringing in a right handed dman, it would be a pipedream due to his lack of trade value. Guys like Pulks have some trade value. Not Janmark. Not even gonna mention Backman as he is damaged goods as far as the Wings go. He was never going to play here, and other GM's know that. He literally had no trade value as long as he was our prospect. The 2nd rounder is the biggest part of this trade that we gave up. Not the end of the world as we still have our first, and if things dont work out and the Wings don't make a run this year, we get the Stars 3rd rounder. Which is not at all far back from where our 2nd rounder is really. 20 spots down tops? Which makes little difference in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. And if we don't get that 3rd? That's because we make the final 4. And if we do make the final 4, I'd bet my left ******** Cole would be an important part of that.

Cole is a better player now, yes. And is exactly what this team has been lacking. He is like a Dallas Drake who belongs in the top 6.

Weiss doesn't HAVE to go the other way. Shedding Kindl clears up all the cap space we'd need. Weiss could be moved in summer if we need to shed salary. His contract is very tradable. Hard to say who goes the other way. How much salary retained would dictate the value of getting Phaneuf. I also just realized this is the Cole threat and not the Trade deadline thread so feel free to discuss this further there if you want. Yay Cole! Because topic.

You're overrating their value. A lot. Would be different if they were in the AHL and playing well. But that is not the case.

If Phaneuf ends up in Detroit it will not be at 7 million per year. 5 at most would be my guess.

I didn't even feel the need to gripe about the Legwand deal last year. I knew it had to happen, and Holland was dealing from a weak position at the time. The deal was made to preserve the playoff streak, so it was what it was. While I was ok with the deal, I understood why people didn't like it. Seeing a couple people react the same way to this trade is absolutely mind blowing lol. Was a great move.

Nope, I just realize you have to give up something in a trade to get something back. Cole is a rental. We all know this going in. The team is preparing for a playoff run. We gave up next to nothing in this deal. The 2nd rounder holds more value than either of the two prospects, really. They are 2 long shots and being impact NHLers. Such players hold little trade value.

Janmark is far down on the depth chart. He had very little trade value. A prospect like him is never gonna bring in any high profile players in a trade. We literally gave up no noteworthy prospects, and may get high 3rd round pick in return (with the exception being a fun playoff run if we don't). You have attachment issues to our prospects lol.

Are you serious? Please tell me this is a joke. Because this is a great trade for the Wings. We lost two prospects who have zero future here. Two prospects who have very little value. And by trading them, this team has a better shot at a deep playoff run.

Phaneuf with Toronto retaining salary would be huge for this team.
