Quincey is also getting paid a lot more money, so he damn well be better. Doesn't change the fact he is no where near as good as what he is getting paid. Especially for a guy who has been in the league for a while. Of course Smith is gonna be cut some slack. He has played what, 100 games in the NHL? He has also shown improvement. Smith is gonna continue to get better, and will become a very important part of this team. Quincey is as good as he is ever gonna be, and very likely won't be back on this team next season. Smith's turnovers will come down as he gets more experience, and makes adjustments to his game. With Quincey, what you see is what you get. He will never change. If you wanna stick up for Quincey, go ahead. I have stuck up for him myself at points during this season. I also don't dislike him like a lot of people here do. But people stick up for Smith because he has a future with this team, and Quincey doesn't. I can understand that. Smith got his share of s*** early this season. But as long as he can continue to show improvement (because he has shown a lot!), of course people will stick up for him. Defensemen with his upside and his skating ability does not grow on trees. Give it a couple years and I'd put money on the fact he'll be more of a dman than Quincey could ever dream of being.

Does it make me a bad person that I was hoping he would get a hat trick in his debut solely for the entertainment of reading a meltdown in this thread?

Pretty awesome that our playoff chances jumped up about 20% in just 2 games. Hopefully they can keep on winning, as it can drop just as quick.

It's good, because now we have games in hand advantages over Columbus, Rangers, and Leafs. (only counting those we can surpass by winning games in hand)

The way I see it, of Columbus loses in regulation, We're in the same situation we are now. 1 point behind the team ahead of us with a game in hand. Rangers lose? Just gives us an extra chance to pass them. But if the Rags win in regulation, winning our games in hand puts us ahead of both. In the end, it doesn't matter. We just have to keep finding ways to win. Lets win our way into the playoffs, not have other teams lose to get us in.

Glendening and Miller have some sick ass chemistry. They definitely need to be 2/3's of our 4th line when healthy. It has been a while since we've had a bottom 6 line that could completely shut down some of the best players in the game. It is wonderful, as when the Wings are at home, it allows Babs to set the Goose loose.

There was points during the game where he looked like Z out there, just hanging onto the puck in the offensive zone like something fierce.

If we win, the teams behind us do not matter. How can they catch up to us if we win? They can't. It isn't much of a stretch at all. The Wings control their own fate at this point. So yeah, I'm not worried.

Nothing to worry about. We still have 2 games on them. No need to worry about the teams behind us. We're starting to pull away from them. Let the teams we are chasing worry about the likes of the Caps.

If we were to get everyone back in the lineup, Glendening has to stay. He needs to be our 4th line center going forward. Even not scoring, he brings a dimension to the team that we need.
