Exactly. And when he was playing, it's not like he was a liability out there, he was mostly just invisible. Playing it too safe, and we obviously now know why. Even while playing hurt, he would occasionally show flashes of what he could be. Not often, mind you. But it was there. Blows my mind how people focus on his time playing through injuries for a few months over the 10 years of his career before that. Also, some people just don't understand the cap era, and won't be happy unless we can ice a roster of future hall of famers.

On the bright side we have games in hand on all the teams we are fighting with. The boys just gotta make sure they keep up

AMEN!! I was always SO nervous when facing them in the playoffs when he had the puck on his stick. The guy lives for big, timely goals. He is an underrated player. He would have been loved if he has gotten to play with a big market team. Now he got his chance. I bet he'll be fired right up tomorrow night.

It's Garth Snow.... People REALLY need to stop comparing this trade to the trades Snow made.

At least it is easier for a center to play wing than it is for a wing to play center.

I'm not even saying that opinion is wrong. My only point is that it is too soon to get upset about it. It could take a few years to find out if this trade is good or not.

Jarnkrok isn't gonna get those types of players. Guys like Nyquist who already prove they can play in this league gets those kinds of players. Mantha gets those kind of players. People over value the prospects way too much. Jarnkrok is unproven. If he pans out, good for him. At this point he is as likely to be a bust as he is likely to be a good first line player. We also struggled dearly during these times and slipped out of a playoff spot. They needed someone proven to help out right now, and we got it. That isn't a fault on these players. They have played well. But they are effective right now in the bottom 6. They don't have the experience to play against opponents best players night in and night out. Legwand does.

Nobody is asking Legwand to be the second coming of Christ. He is expected to come in and help keep this team competitive while people heal up. If you'd rather have Andersson centering the first line, maybe you should root for the Islanders?

Nobody is saying it wasn't a desperation move. He found out he lost Dats for 3 weeks. He had to do something to give this team a fighting chance so he did. Teams don't get players for cheap when it is known they are desperate. It has always been that way. Welcome to sports.

Hard to judge the going rate on players through trade based on what Garth Snow gift wraps players for. Plus, Vanek is gonna test the market. Legwand wants to be here and will most likely help this team beyond this year.

Yeah, it probably would have hurt us. There is not enough time to let someone get used to hockey at the NHL level. We need someone who can step in right now and play a solid 2 way game. I mean, if all our prospects are sooooooo good, we should just trade Dats, Hank, Mule, Weiss, Alfie, and Kronner. Surely we don't need them if all these kids are every day NHL'ers right now. Nobody could call our team old then!

In the end, it is wayyyyyyyy too soon to know if this trade is good trade or not. The overreaction is nuts. If we make the playoffs because of Legwand's help, those all upset now shouldn't even be allowed to cheer for them once the regular season ends

Holland is being hated on because he wasn't able to steal a player away from another team. It's all Holland's fault that there aren't enough GMs as bad as Garth Snow. Shame on him.

So we should start giving kids a spot in the lineup every time they get pissy and refuse playing in the AHL to develop their game? s*** I'm glad players with these attitudes get shown the door. We need team players, not big egos with me attitudes.

Trading a prospect who may or may not ever pan out to to be a top 6 forward does not hurt this team in the long run. Especially if word of him talking about going back overseas has any truth to it. If Holland didn't make a trade, people here would complain. Holland made a trade for a DESPERATE need, people complain. It's more fun to just watch and root for the Wings than it is to complain about every little thing that does or does not happen.I'd hate to see how this board would react if they were Islanders fans.
