Bobrovsky is a solid tender who had a bad season... I think this is a solid move for Columbus. Will it put them over the edge and help them compete when the playoffs come around, well that is yet to be determined. They didn't overpay, in my opinion and I can I see there being a Nash trade in the works as well. Probably something involving Read and JVR. In the end, Columbus just upgraded their goaltending.

It's just not going to happen. The Wings don't guarantee rosters spots, especially to someone who has never played a professional-level game.... It doesn't matter how good he's "projected" to be, it just won't happen. The kid is going to have to come here ready to battle for a spot, and if he is as good as people make him out to be, he'll be on the roster. While I can see the value in trading White, I would only see him being traded in a multi-player deal for someone who improves the team. White is a solid d-man, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well he does this upcoming season. Same can be said for Quincey, I'm not as high on him, but I am willing to give him a shot and see how he performs with a full season and being used to his linemates and the Wings playing style. He showed he can play a pretty damn good game in LA and Colorado, so we'll see. This is in no way to be taken as me saying we shouldn't take a run at Schultz... I think we'd be foolish not to, but there are 29 other teams doing the same and I'm sure many who will guarantee him a spot, regardless of whether we do or not.

Reality check.. Hudler most recently made what? 2.8 million? There isn't a chance in hell he'll play for us at 3 million, so let's just clear that up right now. He'll easily get 4 million with several other teams, and that's why we should just stop talking about him. He's all about the money, and one dimensional.... I'd much rather let Nyquist/Sheahan have his time and see what they can do. I'd also like for us to stop wasting Eaves away on the 4th line, the guy can pot 20 goals if you give him he time and linemates.
-
I'm not talking dollars here... I'm talking about the fact that the person I replied to would rather have Hudler over Semin, or so that seemed to be what they were getting at. So correction: I would take Semin at 6 million over Hudler at 4, any day of the week.
-
Uhh.. I'd take Semin over Hudler any day of the week... Hudler has reached his ceiling for production, Semin can pot 30+ and 60+ points. If you would take Hudler over Semin... please stop talking.

I would love if we could trade for Roy... In a perfect world, I'd trade for Roy and Myers, but the latter will never happen.
-
I would trade for any one of the following: Roy Pominville Stafford Myers

The more I see this kid, the more impressed I am with his level of play. Add in the right handed shot and the fact that he is familiar with playing with Smith, and it's a no brainer. I think you go hard after this kid and Suter (obviously). Holland will have his hands full for sure.

You failed to see the point and instead decided to be overly negative about nearly every single player on that list. That was a list of 20+ goal scorers that you said does not exist. I was just proving the point that you were inaccurate in your assumption. If we're talking about Hudler leaving and replacing his output, I would take half of those guys in a heartbeat. Namely, Jokinen or Doan. Seriously... you're quite right. Why would we tie ourselves to someone like that? His goals can be largely contributed to the hard work of Datsyuk and Zetterberg who make him look much better when playing together. There are better, more viable options out there, for less. Olli Jokinen, for one, can put up MORE points than Hudler, take faceoffs, and costs less. That's just ONE example.
-
I agree... you cannot waste his talents on the 3rd/4th line. He can play there when he's in slumps to help provide a little energy, but he should be paired with Datsyuk most of the season, unless we make some big splashes via trade/free agency. At worst you put him on a nice 3rd scoring/grinding line (again if we make some solid moves this offseason and have good depth). Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Parise Filppula-Jokinen-Franzen Nyquist-Cleary-Bertuzzi Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves Miller/Mursak

Did you really ask that question? 1. Semin 2. Smyth 3. Doan 4. Selanne 5. Jagr 6. Jokinen 7. Whitney 8. Boyes (Has had a few bad seasons) 9. Penner (Had a bad season, but better playoffs) 10.Parenteau 11.Sykora 12.Hudler Are they all ideal? No.. but there are bonafide 20+ goal scores available. And you cannot discount a trade possibility.
-
If Hudler walks... what do people think of Olli Jokinen as a possible replacement? The guy made $3 mil last season and put up 23 goals and 61 points playing back and forth between lines 1-3...
-
Uhh... Olli Jokinen made $3 mil last season and had 23 goals for Calgary (playing between lines 1-3). If we lost Hudler and wanted to replace his output, I'd go for Jokinen around 3.5-4 mil.

They certainly won't trade him now.... someone needs to close this thread.

YYYEEESSS.... Parise... come to us now! -
Low-balled?!? Stuart was on record saying he wanted to play in California and also mentioned that he would like to go back to San Jose if possible. San Jose didn't have to do anything, they could have just sat back until July 1st and more than likely would have gotten him. They did us a favor and we at least got a pick out of it. You would very rarely see anything more be traded for a player's negotiating rights. Well, let's hope that he isn't all about the money and wants to go to a competitor like Detroit... with his buddy Suter.

Source?

I know it seems inevitable, but the word you're looking for is not when, but if. Never assume.
-
I would take a chance on Markov... the guy has extreme upside if he can stay healthy, and that's the biggest draw with him (IF). Still, maybe the different style of hockey in Detroit could help him not be so injured all the time, not to mention, he wouldn't have to have the pressure of being "the guy" here.
-
Knuble would be interesting, even at 40 years of age, just to add into the bottom six mix. He would definitely add a little extra scoring to our 3rd/4th lines. I am weary of going that route, however, as I'd much rather have a faceoff specialist/bruiser instead. I'm just saying, for depth's sake, I would not complain. Damnit... I was hoping the Avs would be stupid and let him walk. Oh well, scratch of a plan B candidate for the Wings.
-
The G-52 Bomber.... I like it.
-
I think typically when you trade for rights, it takes a middle round draft pick or something similar to that. I don't think we'll be trading roster players or anything.

Ha, this is absolutely true!

Heck yeah, solid right handed shooting defenseman who can play defense and seems decently tough? Sold.
