  1. I guess it's official that Holmstrom is retiring then, we can't have 2 #96's on the same team....

    Trade Ian White?

I wouldn't have minded if the Wings kicked a second round pick in 2013 to Anaheim for Lubomir Visnovsky. He IS quite an offensively talented d-man, (led all defencemen in scoring in 2010-11) and the Wings just lost one of those...I think Kenny got scooped on that one by the Isles.
  3. He also could have gone to the Rangers to be with his bro. #manybros

    2012 NHL Entry Draft Discussion

The problem I have with these draftees is that MAYBE we'll see them in the bigs in 4-5 years. That's how the Wings work. Other teams have a much faster rotation. It's a blessing and a curse. What players were drafted with the 2 first round picks (and Anders Eriksson) we gave up to get Chelios? I don't know. But I know he played here for nine seasons and helped us win 2 cups. Who knows if those picks ever even made it to the NHL?

Bobby Ryan was a second overall pick. 4 straight 30 goal seasons. He is 25 years old. Do any of these prospects have that kind of a start in them? Or are we guessing? I don't like guessing. He is signed, we know his cap number, it's all right there. You know what you're getting, you know where to slot him, he can start Game One and finish Game 82 for the next 10 years if you want. That's what we need...in MY opinion. NHL stud talent, not maybes. Do it before the Leafs or Rangers or Flyers or some other team gets it done.

Hey, I didn't realize Mikael Samuelsson is a UFA! You don't suppose that's what Kenny is plotting? (ducking)

    High End Trade Options

Every article I read mentioned Kronwall, Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Some even mentioned Mule. It would make sense since the first 3 actually were assistants and therefore team leaders. Maybe if it was Winnipeg or Minnesota where they have the revolving captain every month, yeah I could see that. But not captain of the Detroit Red Wings. It's OK if you want to believe that, go ahead. But it's not going to happen. You're obviously a super fan for some reason, and hey, here's to ya. We all have our favorite players and he is yours. We're both Red Wing fans and that's cool. But I am hoping he won't be in the lineup next year. I think this team needs a shakeup in personnel and philosophy of play. That's my perogative and what I think is better for the team, given the right deal.

When teams are getting players for 2013 draft picks, it's kind of puzzling to see why someone would wait until MAYBE they can out-woo every other team in the NHL AND write them the biggest check.

CAPTAIN MATERIAL? For the DETROIT RED WINGS? Who said that? You? Wow. What a stretch. He's not even an ALTERNATE Captain.

I love McPhee saying "Thank you Pittsburgh" as they boo him. This is exactly right. Trade players while they still have value and get value back for them. Reload before you NEED to reload. Now they have tons of great young talent. And Jagr.

The problem is they wanted that one guy and that one guy wanted to only go to that one team. So they were kind of over a barrel. Plus it creates fan excitement having the Staals together. I think they took the hit to make the play in that case.

They are saying Forsberg has a style similar to Johan Franzen. Does he score in bursts and then not score for 20 games?

The only way to trade Mule is to take a contract back in return. It CAN be done.

Don't you think Boston will basically give him away just to get out from under the cap hit?

Can someone tell me why Forsberg is so highly touted? 17 points in 43 games? Saw a highlight package on TV but thought those totals were a little light for someone ranked so high.
