Isn't that song by Ugly Kid Joe? No One Like You - Scoripions
-
I knew you'd be right along behind me with the 3 or 4 times he's mixed it up or hit someone in the last 6 years. The McArthur "Highlight" is a SHOULDER CHECK. And Samuelsson of all people comes in to save him.The Engelland hit is self defense! He was gonna get hit and put his arm up and got lucky. Even the announcer says "Filppula hit by Engelland"... You are actually helping me make my case, thank you.

Someone needs to tell Kevin Smith that if you're fat and wearing a hockey jersey, people can still tell you're fat.

This is a strange move for both considering how leaky Bryzgalov was last year. Obviously that contract means he is not going anywhere....but....??? scratching head...is he really an upgrade for Columbus? wait for Luongo or Thomas to become available...?

When people say we need to get tougher to play against, start here. Flip is SOFT. Not a bad defensive player but nothing in the physical department. And I'm tired of everyone praying that he play to his "potential". He's 28, been here 6 seasons, what you see is what you get. Sorry, I'm not a fan.

Have you read this thread?

Did anyone else find it ironic / hilarious that Barry Melrose was selected to give the Stamkos speech for the Hart Trophy nomination?
-
I know it's splitting hairs, but Hudler (50 points) and Cleary (33 points) made 3 mil. Close enough for me. To say he would not have been a productive Wing is not fair. May not want him, but I think he would have done well on Datsyuk's wing.
-
No. It's tempting but there is too much injury history to ignore and too much money on the table wasted when he doesn't play.
-
54 points in 73 games. That's better than a few younger Red Wing roster players who are making considerably more than him. He would have been 5th in points on our team and only 15 points short of our leading scorer. That's actually kinda sad.

My only concern is that he is 27 and just showed up on the radar this year, in a contract year. I sure would hate signing another Jeff Finger.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
AtomicPunk replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Did CBC Commentators just suggest choosing a player on the Devils to run and attempt to injure Quick? They mentioned Ponikorovsky because he "is a big player". If so, that is really irresponsible. -
Just retire and come back next year like everyone else does when they realize they miss the money and the attention....err...the game.

Nick is just downright impressive on and off the ice

A classy player, great career, sad that it's ending but he does everything the right way. Cannot promote him enough. -
This is why I am always willing to trade unproven young talent for proven NHL players. The hit rate is very small on prospects.

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.
AtomicPunk replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
Well, my thought behind that was that I don't feel Bertuzzi, Cleary, Hudler, Filppula, even Abdelkader are players that can't be traded or upgraded. Watching the playoffs and seeing the teams that are left and the effort they are showing night after night (or every 3rd night, thanks NBC) makes me want more heart and grit on our roster. We need to look beyond the #1 and #2 signings and shake up the core as well. -
What About = T.J. Oshie of STL., Evander Kane of WIN
AtomicPunk replied to MrBest7's topic in General
I would LOVE it if the Wings went after Kane. He put up those numbers last year playing on Winnepeg's SECOND line. He is a stud in the making and would be a great Red Wing. I will always trade draft picks for proven young NHL ready talent, especially where we draft. -

Good trade for Pitt. The Red Wings shouldn't be so precious with their picks and look for deals like this. It is the good little parts of a team that make a winning team, not just the big splash free agents. Turn over a few rocks, Kenny. -
Honestly, I like the THOUGHT of this trade, getting rid of a player on our team who is productive to a point, but still not working as hard as I think he should and has a huge long term contract. I watched a lot of the Caps games and Laich and Carlson stood out as tough(er), gritty players who I would like on our roster. I like Mike Green and think he will have a bounceback in our system. Washington changed from an offensive goal scoring team from a defense first team, which probably is not his forte. Put him out there with a defensive defenseman and it might cover up his deficiencies in that area a little. I feel the Wings need to do more than sign a few free agents and go a little deeper. The core is not all right. AND I DO NOT WANT HELM INVOLVED IN THAT TRADE. We need MORE Helms, not less.

#6 New Jersey Devils vs. #5 Philadelphia Flyers
AtomicPunk replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
And Bryz gives it back. -
Too many floaters on this team right now. Also too many people resting on their past success. If we want to get real, there are a lot of players that need to get turned over. Cleary, Holmstrom, Flip, Hudler, even Franzen and Bertuzzi. We need youth, grit, speed and hunger. Don't want to turn into the Pistons that "kept the band together too long".

I love Nick, but when did he turn into Larry Murphy?

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET
AtomicPunk replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I'd love to see the Wings add a young, scoring forward. Last year I was hoping it would be James Neal but he went to the Devil....err..the Penguins. Our forward corps are getting older, not old, but not young and a youth infusion would be great. -
HUDLER! I want CURLY FRIES.

Huds decided to F up Price's shutout.
