I don't know ... I want Suter but I'm going to stop drinking the Suter koolaid. He is the best available UFA defenceman but I don't see him being the next Lidstrom so therefore, not worth $90 mill for 13 years.

I want Suter but the more I think about $90 mill for 13 years, the more I realize what a stupid kind of deal/contract it is. I still want him but would prefer something like a 6-7 year at $6-7 mill/yr. We got caught in the emotions of the moment.

I'm afraid that this roster is about the same or worst than our line up last year. You've added a little on the offense but haven't shored up the defence. Carle might replace Stuart but you're missing Lidstrom's minutes, skill, and leadership. This roster would get in on 6th spot and be out in 1 round ...

In this salary cap world, of course you have to compare players in terms of stats, skills, and their contract. Having said that, their career stats are pretty close. Hands down for Howie if you figure out winning %. Price at .471%, Howie at .601%

If Suter is waiting for ZP to make his decision first and then see if he wants to follow ... I've just lost some respect for Suter. Make up your own damn mind, why the hell do you have to follow Parise? He is not your older brother, you're not twins, this isn't the Staal saga or the Schenn thing ... you decide first and make him follow you. Seriously, you are more coveted than ZP. I was kind of surprised about this. This doesn't plan for NJ's future very well, with Brodeur and Hedberg as your combination. I think sentimentality took over Lou. The only thing left on Brodeur's career since he's won everything is to use these next 2 years to bring a non-playoff team closer to Cup contender and mentor a younger goalie ... I was really hoping that we'd face him in the Winter Classic.

I feel bad for JMac, as I said in another post, I think he filled in awesome for us last season when Howie went down. He even helped us extend home winning streak to break record, to my recollection. If he is healthy, I would have liked to see us give him the backup role, I think he deserved it playing in the minors and waiting patiently. Monster has more NHL experience but we'll see if he is better in the long run, I think Monster's stat last year was 17-17. Joey Mac's was 8-5 ... I know, not the same body of work but still. Hope Kenny will do the right thing and send him to a place where he will get a chance to be a backup. OP, maybe 'requesting' or 'asking' is more accurate than 'demanding a trade'.
