Agreed. The times I kept watching the Isles this year I was never really impressed. I know they had more points than the Wings but this team is lacking in important areas whereas the Panthers might not be cup material they're better than the Isles.

Ottawa up 4-1. Reminds me of the night 3 buddies and I went to Tiger Stadium the night they clinched the AL East in 84. Got there waaaay early and the Tigers magic # was 1, a win by them or a Blue Jays loss and it was the division. The Tigers started slowly but Boston started beating th bejeesus out of the Jays like 7-1 and then 9-2 and the party was on in those upper deck bleachers early.

This is a measured effort by the Wings when they need desperate.

Time for a defining game boys. If you can't come up wioth one out of the last two then you don't deserve the playoffs. Over the last 3-4 years I've actually been of the mind that late season decisions aren't being made to procure a Stanley Cup but to just get in the playoffs and get 2 or 3 more home dates out of it all. These are the Red Wings. They should be worrying more about Stanley Cups and long runs than wheezing across the line. If it means we all take a long hard look at Nyquist's regression under a coach they should be flourishing under sobeit. Look at the hash the D has become. Again, there's plenty of time to discuss these matters if they don't win. It wouldn't be the end of the world. Mostly we need to look at not JUST the players now when we read the words "Of those much is given much is expected", those are the organizational mantra and everyone, all the way up needs to do more. Playoffs are fun but they've become the thing now haven't they?

Boston is going to come out tonight like they're getting home down 0-2 in a series. They're going to have to empty the guns. Now, the Wings played a tough, high intensity game last night. They'll get tired as the game moves on. Will they marshall the early energy in simply trying to turn the Bruins away or will they use it to counterpunch a desperate team. I think that'll be your difference tonight, how and where the tired Wings use their energy or in Babcockian, "compete level"
