I'm normally one of the cooler heads even come playoff time but right now I am more than a little worried. We faithful keep saying if we can just get healthy but more more than a couple months that mantra doesn't work normally (Unless you are Scotty Bowman in which case it all works no matter how odd) and for once I would make a deal not just to shake things up but to let the guys not named Kronwall, Zetterberg, Alfredsson and Datsyuk (and Goose and Tatar) you're not doing enough. Bring someone in and show the four plus two I named and tell them "You're getting some help, now lead the kids and Cleary and Franzen on to victory. Those last two you might have to kick." Maybe this all clicks together after the Olympics like it did in 2002 or doesn't like after 2006 and 2010. I'd still be ready to ship a couple for one.

How perfect is this? Wings in high def on HNIC. My neighbor Sabrina who is now a fashion designer but used to be a big name pastry chef just brought over a plate of magnificent Christmas cookies. A cup of egg nog and a Datsyuk goal. it's the little moments in life that make it so great.

The Wings had a kind of quiet control over the game last night in NJ. I think they'll carry that forward tonight. 3-2 Detroit. It's gonna be a bigger grind than many think. Let's say Alfie pops in a goal with 4 minutes to play and Detroit wins.

One last note about last night's game. I was watching the Wings bench as they came out for the third period and I'm not sure if TV caught it but Babcock went down the bench tapping each player on the shoulders or a back slap as if to say "Here we go, let's get this rolling." FYI
