Didn't he die in prison? I seem to remember him dying in prison.
-
I got it right away. Still wasn't funny.

In defense of the Marleau signing; they obviously didn't know at the time that they'd be signing Tavares. But with LTIR for Horton, they'll have about $35 million in cap space, plus any increase in the cap. They shouldn't be in any trouble, just might have to push bridge deals for Marner and/or Nylander.
-
I was noticing the weirdness as well. I'm not positive, but I don't think it's calculating the 2nd LTIR correctly.

Two offers is not impossible. What is impossible is Larkin giving away one of his prime earning years just to save the team from having to waive Frk. The way things are going, that 6th year you'd expect him to play for free is likely worth $8 million+. And you really think he would give that up to save a guy who still probably won't crack the top-12 and ,barring an unexpected breakout, likely has no future here.

I'm pretty sure he would readily admit that your theory has ZERO possibility. Your theory is impossible. Even your own subconscious knows it.

Steve Yzerman to step down as GM for TBL. Will serve in "Advisory Role".
Buppy replied to kliq's topic in General
Calm down, dude. You're going to ruin your sock. Biased, extremely optimistic, or both. TB had more than just Stamkos and Hedman. They also had the 6th overall pick, and were also rebuilding so could also expect more lottery picks (and in fact did add the 3rd and 10th OA picks within a few years). Their prospect pool didn't look very good, but I'm sure they had a few that were still thought to have potential. They also had some good veterans in St.Louis, Lecavalier, Malone, Foster, Tanguay, and some decent younger guys in Downie, Purcell, and Meszaros. I don't think our situation is anywhere close to what Yzerman walked into in TB. Add the fact that he had Datsyuk/Zetterberg level draft luck in his 2nd year, and those two other top-10 picks he's probably at the point where any further failures to win a Cup starts earning him blame. -
Canes Want Third Logo. Asking Fans To Tweet Them.

He says, while all full of mammary glands. Debunked. -
Got it. I take it those are new. I never really notice the rink ads, other than the fake ones they put on the glass on TV. Makes me wonder though; how many ads could my brain learn to filter out, assuming they're added gradually? And also how much more prevalent fake ads will get if most other people also find them harder to ignore? Or would they become less common if higher visibility leads to fan backlash?
-
I don't get it. Have we not already seen it? While I like the Hockeytown nickname (and I don't think it will go away too soon even if the team itself abandons it), I like the clean logo much better. Imagine going a different direction; instead of removing Hockeytown from the center ice logo, what if they were adding it to the jersey? Horrifying thought, right? We should focus on how awesome our logo is, not the loss of an old marketing slogan that never should have been there in the first place.

Yeah, they're mammals. Like you. Class traitor. See where that gets you once the revolution starts and mammals take over the world. -
The people asked for controversy. I am but a humble servant.

That one? I wouldn't call that great at all. Kinda dumb even. Plus, "Whale-ers"? It's not even right. Also, stop glorifying whale genocide. -
If we'd kept Quincey, we wouldn't have signed Ian White when Rafalski retired. Then at the deadline we would have traded that first to Tampa for Pavel Kubina. Vasilevskiy to the Lightning was fate.
-
Exactly. He said two years. So if he actually retired at that time, it would look suspicious. It had to be either 3 years or 1. And 40 points isn't a trivial amount. No guarantee he'd hit it even if he played every game again. He could play, fall short, then spend the rest of his life with a reputation as an admitted cap cheat who captained a proud O6 team from contention into the basement, then renegged on his contract, possibly handcuffing the team with a stiff and unmovable penalty after trying to pretend that his injuries just coincidentally resurfaced at the exact time he said he wanted to retire. Or walk away now, and have everyone think he's a hero, bask in the sympathy from all the people so concerned that while he can play golf and do any normal things, maybe the rigors of NHL hockey are little more than he can take. How will he ever be able to tolerate life retiring before he's 40, probably in less discomfort than an average guy his age, and he's only been compensated like $80 million. Poor Z. What a warrior. If I would have tried to play hockey at his age I would probably have died. No one would've called me a warrior. Probably say, "A McDonalds with a PlayPlace doesn't count as 'going to the gym', dumb fatass".

He signed a contract he never intended to fulfill, then admitted as much to the media. Even after the alleged return of symptoms in February, with the team out of the playoff race, he continued to play every game, 20+ minutes a night in back to backs, not even reducing his minutes until the middle of march. Never mentioned anything to anyone, not even on his public golfing trip, until it became obvious that trying to retire next summer like he said he was going to would look awfully suspicious. Then he told the press that his everyday life is fine, and it's only hockey that he's allergic to... I mean doesn't have the spine for... I mean is too injured for. And now he's back in Detroit, trying to make it look good because, unlike a 35+ contract, you can't trade away a recapture penalty. Spin can go both ways. To be clear, if he wants to retire I fully support his decision. I won't think any less of him, wouldn't even if he were in better health than when he started. I wish him all the best, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to watch and cheer for him all these years. He'll be missed. But I just can't read any of these stories without the sense that there's an implied wink at the end.

2018-2019 Opening Night Roster - Dedicated to BlueAdams!
Buppy replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
We waived Frk two years ago for AA. Then we spent 80% of last year force feeding him one-timers on the PP and he scored the same number of goals as Glendening. If it comes to it we will waive Frk to make room for Rasmussen. Also, there is already room under the cap to fit Hicketts, and replacing Frk would allow us to upgrade to Hronek instead. Or if we kept Hicketts, and instead replaced Jensen with Hronek, we could then waive Witko for Zadina. Or we could also do that without replacing Jensen if Frk was claimed by someone (though I don't see much reason to keep Jensen). In short, Ras will be on the team, as will one of Hicketts or Hronek. Frk and Zadina will depend on Zetterberg/other injuries/trades. -

Question is where on the Yakupov-Crosby scale do you think Hughes will fall. It would have to be fairly high or Carolina wouldn't consider it, so at least a Matthews or Tavares. While from our end, a Crosby/Ovie/McDavid level would be too high a price. Now, assuming the 1st coming back was top-5, and we could expect something like Hanifin/Johansen, I'd say yes at Tavares, still no at McDavid, and at Stamkos I'd have to dig in to what I thought the 2nds would be worth. -
Since he came into the league he's 7th in total points, 15th in goals, 14th in assists, 13th in points/game. So, yeah.

Way off. It's a Saturn Vue. 2005 or earlier. A passable economy SUV, though if I were car shopping I'd prefer something newer.
-
Are you suggesting he isn't?
-
Don't worry. His real middle name is Penis.
