Remaing RFAs to be signed - Jurco, Pulkkinen, Aubry

Jurco was at times played with Datsyuk, was put on the PP, still didn't put up great numbers But at the same time, I feel like Blashill will revive him. Jurco's first year in GR was underwhelming, then he went PPG.

Coaching Search Thread a.k.a. the Jeff Blashill Thread

This gets brought up a lot, and I don't think its fair to Bylsma. Their 'embarrassing effort and collapse' was a 1-0 loss to CANADA in the semi's, a hard fought match that could've gone either way. They were there to avenge a loss from four years ago, which is probably why they didn't care about bronze. Not saying Bylsma is a great coach, not saying Bylsma over Blashill, nor am I denying that the talent he's had was a huge part of his success. All I'm saying is that his performance at the Olympics wasn't a complete disaster.

Is A First Round Exit Imminent?

I feel ya. I actually forgot to mention that Ozzie would've won the Conn Smythe that year despite an awful regular season. End stretch is a poor indicator. Again, good players tend to pick it up for the playoffs.

Is A First Round Exit Imminent?

Does anyone remember both in the 2008 and 2009 seasons when we went through absolutely terrible stretches towards the end of the season? Especially 2009 when the Ozzie/Conklin tandem was just awful? How about last year when the kids carried our team into the playoffs and disappeared after? All I'm saying is that the last stretch isn't as big of an indicator as we think.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

Smith is not bad enough to sit. Marchenko/Ouellet will get sent down. Besides, if they want to trade Smith, making him a healthy scratch a bunch of times doesn't help his value.

Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

Works both ways bud, you keep raving about Janmark's upside and how he wasn't given a chance, what if he flopped? Guess we'll never know

Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

Detroit got a top 6 forward and gave up a second and two prospects, not even our elite ones Janmark is good, but we're so deep down the middle it doesn't matter a whole lot Backman would be behind Sproul, Hicketts, Ouellet, Marchenko anyway so who cares What matters to me is we kept Mrazek Mantha Larkin AA XO Sproul and Marchenko which is awesome

    WJC 2015 Starting today

Canada not dominating like they should be, give Slovakia lots of credit But man Hicketts looks great, looks like a young Smith, pinches just as much that's for sure

Pens aquire David Perron from Oilers

Perron is not what this team needs... Actually neither is any forward unless he's big and has scoring ability like Nash or Pacioretty Guys come on we have unbelievable forward depth, Weiss is on the fourth line.. (not sure I agree with this, Weiss has as many points as Jurco in 20 less games played, liked Helm and Weiss together) PMD is a much bigger need, most teams do the 3 and 3 for offensive and defensive defensemen, really glad the two we have so far can play D (Danny and Kronwall), we just need one more who can really put up the points. What would it take for Dale Tallon to give up Ekblad? (probably drugs and alcohol) On a more serious note, I never hated the Tyler Myers or Keith Yandle idea, or if we're going cheaper then maybe someone like Larsson, Zidlicky or Sekera. No to Petry, think KFQ in 2012-13 but with a slight edge as a RH Speaking of PMD, our lame excuse for a PMD Kindl's back from injury his stock is probably at its peak, trade him for parts, addition by subtraction because he'll be off our powerplay unit and we can keep Dekeyser on it or put Smith on

    epix winter classic 2015

Little better, they've really upped the censorship the past couple of years, doesn't feel as genuine as the first two, and I guess there isn't the 'shock factor' anymore.

Weiss sent down to GR- conditioning assignment

Really easy to say that two years forward but I remember when we signed him everyone was freaking out. Made a lot of sense at the time, even the most pessimistic people couldn't have called the situation... If anything it's a sign that Holland should not sign a free agent center or trade for one. Babcock likes all of his centremen homegrown (Datsyuk Zetterberg Helm Filppula Glendening Sheahan... all came from within the organization) and clearly favours them. It's not just Weiss that got screwed over, you're forgetting that Legwand came in on pace for almost 60 points and finished the season on the fourth line. He was a pretty big part of our playoff push when all of our other centers were injured (yeah yeah kid line I get it they were more important, Nyquist lit it up but also because he played with Legwand). It's probably because Babcock's system has a heavy emphasis on the center and it isn't for everyone. Tough to argue against the results but it's too bad there's so much money being wasted. Glad we have an organization that can afford these kinds of things.

Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?

Kings fans are the worst, do they not realize that with that core they probably won't need a huge impact prospect for another 5-6 years... Plus they have Toffoli Pearson Muzzin McNabb Jones that are prospects or borderline prospects, Doughty and Voynov who are only 24, Kopitar's only 27... They're getting real spoiled (reminds me of some other fan base haha)

Not too sure about that, Pavel does a weird amount of promotion for his clothing line
  23. Jurco, Ouellet, Sproul say hi That makes a rate of 1 a year since 08-09! Pretty sure that's better than most teams...especially considering we draft middle of the pack, low, or give away our first every year

Candiens, P.K. Subban agree to 8 year contract

Subban shoulda gotten 8, he's not better than Doughty/Weber although he benefits from having a Norris to his name The comparisons to the Kane/Toews deal are sort of valid, but at the same time, let's keep in mind that Kane and Toews are two of the most popular, recognizable players in the NHL.Chicago has the biggest bandwagon fanbase in the NHL and if you lose Captain Serious and Kaner, you lose a whole bunch of revenue. Montreal likes Subban but they'll always have a fan base and it wouldn't be the end of the world if they lost him.
