Wings win and Petr also wins...will Z catch Fedorov in the red wings scoring race? If he finishes his 3 years left he should but I read he probably wont play the final 2 years of his contract, it'd be nice to see him get there

In these ones I always feel a little sorry for the home fans, could have got their monies worth seeing a shoot out but Sabers score with .02 in OT. Obviously being the wings they should know this is how they roll though ...And yaaaayy Petr for his first win, can't wait to see his brand spanking new philly mask when shes done

I'm definitely not a Holland hater, but I do feel its time to move on. I am however curious to what Chris Illitch is thinking here. Surely you don't let a GM of Hollands stature walk without a plan, a plan that has to take into consideration who jumps ship with him when he goes. I'm all for a total overhaul but ones that are a success like Toronto (that also took a long time to finally work out the way it did) are very rare, do these guys have the gusto to pull it off?

The Leafs are just one of those teams that suck to lose against. They lost last night though so they'll be coming strong in this one, if we don't play a full 60 minutes its not going to be pretty...LGW

That makes sense, I don't get to see many of their games, I live through a game a week otherwise I see the highlights. Any game I saw him in he was taking surprisingly well to playing center, had the speed and back checked well(ish) but again I see a handful of games at best.

I just don't understand sitting AA. The kids electric out there and theres definitely a spot for him. Himself and Mantha had great chemistry going and Blash stopped playing them together and chemistry between players here hasn't been seen in a while. Perhaps my anti Blashill has crossed into dark territory though

Don't they both make 4.25 mil a year? Both are way higher then Id expect BUT Abby has finished nicely a few times this season surprisingly. His biggest problem is he doesn't have Datsyuk banking shots off of him into the net anymore so obviously his stats dropped (Fun fact: I miss Datsyuk every time the Wings play..)

where was AA last night? Blashill praised his while he was scoring, even had him in a position he doesn't play, most of our "scoring" players are streaky-Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha, AA but the only ones he benches is AA? I also think Blash needs to blow up his lines some, Z Goose and Mantha isn't working, all I know for sure is Id like to see Z and Larkin with Mantha

No sorry needed! The fact we were elite for so long makes it sting sooo much more though. Having Blash on the bench and Holland backing him up in every way just turns the knife and makes it so much easier to turn elite b*tcher...What Holland does at (or by) the deadline will solidify my feelings for him going forward.

It's embarrassing hockey to watch, and it obviously starts from horrible coaching. The plays they make in their own end while trying to clear the zone are beyond ridiculous, I saw at least 5 behind the back passes to nobody by a wings defenseman tonight in the 30 minutes of the game I watched. No we are not Tampa bay, they're way beyond us in every facet of the game. Its the stupid plays we make over and over again that cost us puck possession we have. It totally looks like on most nights these guys are throwing sh*t at the wall and hoping it sticks, and anything Ive heard from Blashill confirm his process absolutely sucks

Let the bitching begin! ...Ive watched half the second and the third and my gawd they play some sh*tty hockey. What does Blashill do at practice? It 100% looks like these guys have no coaching whatsoever and theyre out there playing pond hockey. These guys out there are definitely capable of so much more then this.

Watching Blashill's postgame is like seeing a poop on a stick explain how it got there...

I think if you made Petr our clear cut #1 by dealing Howard then we could really see what hes capable of. Risky but Id definitely be willing to see

I would prefer to trade Howard and keep Mrazek going forward, like you said there is no tanking in Detroit. Also as others have pointed out tanking doesn't necessarily equal a successful rebuild either. Id prefer to keep the core we plan to use and garner as many picks as possible over the next couple seasons, as said by many other then the first couple picks its a crap shoot so we might as well get as many as possible increasing the odds of someone working out.

Great timing to start the game, Glendening scored 2 seconds after I put it on followed by Mantha and Tatar. Not what I was expecting but nice to see. Hopefully they put a good third together here. LGW

Looks like it was quite the wild game...Bertuzzi's hack looked more then a little soft but none the less cost 4 straight goals . Absolutely crazy, luckily I just caught the highlights as seeing them loose this one that way after a 3-0 lead may have actually killed me...

Hopefully I'm home early enough to catch some of this one...Who gets the start Howard or Mrazek? Here's hoping everyone shows up to play, I understand not every game can be your best game but there are consistently 3-4 guys every night that play great, and they are always different guys (which is a coaching problem)...Either way LGW

I would hope that both Nyquist and Tatar would garner us 1st round picks, their value is way higher then Smith or Vanek imo. They're both young and yes one dimensional but in the right scenario can provide huge secondary scoring. We unfortunately rely on them as our main goal scorers. The days of our scouting getting gems in late rounds are definitely behind us, we wont find a Fedorov in the 4th round, a Dats in the 6th or a Zetterberg in the 7th, those were extremely lucky finds. If Holland lets these guys go for anything less then a 1st round pick it'd be a loss

That's exactly why they're tradable assets, teams obviously wont trade anything for Frk, Glendening or Helm. Tatar and Nyquist would have big time interest to teams as secondary scoring I would think. We need a few more core players to say the least, if trading them help get some more picks to get them then lets do it-rebuild this somab*tch

Yes to all of this. Both of these dudes looked sooo promising in their first couple years then completely fizzled out, not from a point stand point but they came into the lineup and immediately looked like 30 goal a season guys. Goose scored 28 his first year (in 57 games at that) and 27 his second.

I just caught the highlights of this one, looks like it was a good showing on the road by the boys! So do you ride Petr while he's hot? He seems to be the type that loves a heavy workload while he's playing well so imo he should go tomorrow too...Though it's all kinda bittersweet, as much as Id love to ignore their "push for the playoffs" watching them play like garbage and lose sucks ass. Seeing them play a consistently good game and getting W's I'll gladly take instead

Luckily I didn't get to watch this game...Id love to know how these guys (nyquist, tatar, mantha, zetterberg, larkin, anthanasiou) decide to show up....I spent the last 30 mins watching old Zetterberg highlights and almost cried-I totally get he is aging/aged BUT he used to do things that only elite players could pull off and his shot was amazing, does a dude like Z not work on his shot anymore? Because he should. Ive seen at least 12 times this year where he should have picked cherries and instead hit the goalie or shot it wide (and I don't see many games) I get he doesn't have the wheels he used to have or the body to enable him to maneuver like he used to, BUT when hes given a golden opportunity front and center dude needs to bury it...
