WCQF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This should be a good one. The Blackhawks will probably win in 6 or 7. But the Blues definitely have a legit chance. Especially if Brian Elliot plays the way he has been lately. -
Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
TheDetroitRedWings replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
The Coyotes have the perfect situation for us. If we trade Pavel's contract for Pronger's, it's a win-win for both teams. It would save Arizona almost 600k. And we can use Pronger's LTIR status, which wouldn't count against the cap. I'm certain that's what Kenny will do. -
True, that probably wasn't the best way to phrase what he was trying to say. But on the bright side, he also said: “If we do need him in the series, he needs to be playing.” So at least he's not completely shutting the door on Mantha being called back up.

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs

Yeah. And personally I'll take that 27 +/- swing, over those 10 assists any day. -
Certainly can't argue anything you said. I mean I do see where Kenny is coming from. But I definitely disagree with him on this one.
-
I see both sides of the fence on this one. As much as I'd like to have Mantha and his scoring ability out there. As of now he is definitely a defensive liability. He was a -6 in just the few games he played for us. Which Tampa (especially in the playoffs) would likely exploit even more. All that said though, personally I'd rather take the risk, have his scoring touch out there (we're not exactly a high scoring team), and give him NHL playoff experience. But like I said I do see both sides on this one. Not a huge surprise that they don't want to make any risky decisions this time of year.

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
TheDetroitRedWings replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
From what I've read, the contract cap hit shouldn't be a problem. After Datsyuk officially leaves, Holland will likely trade the contract to the Coyotes, which will actuallly save Pheonix about 600k. In turn, the Wings would receive Pronger's contract. Then we would use Pronger's LTIR status. Which wouldn't count any $ against the cap. So really, the only downfall to all of this, is losing an amazing player sooner than we thought we would. But realistically, even if he had no desire to return home, we wouldn't have had him for too much longer anyways age-wise. Hopefully we can make a nice run and maybe, just maybe, if Jimmy can play the way he did against Philly, maybe he can hoist the Cup one last time (not likely, but there's always a chance). And we all know #13 will be hanging in the rafters soon. Also, just like all our other Red Wings legends, he'll always be a Red Wing. And we'll continue to see him for years to come at various Detroit related events, signings, and future alumni games. Here's to a hall of fame career Pavel! It's been a pleasure to watch you take the torch that was passed by the likes of Yzerman, Shanahan, Lidstrom, Fedorov (and other Wings legends). Thankfully we have so many up and coming young stars that Pavel (and Hank, whenever he hangs em up) will in turn pass the torch to. We are so lucky to be fans of the best organization in sports. That always (and I do mean always) puts competitive teams out there year after year, decade after decade. Cheers! -

I'm just excited that we'll get yet another Alumni game. Miss our Legends so much. Hope we can keep getting the old boys back together for years to come! -

http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/if-the-wings-decided-to-move-jimmy-howard-would-edmonton-be-a-fit Seems pretty clear based on the way things went last season and into the playoffs, that Mrazek should be starting between the pipes this season. This article suggests that the Oilers would be a logical destination. Do you agree Jimmy should be moved? Can you guys think of any other ideal teams to possibly trade with? And if so, who would you like in return? And keep in mind this isn't NHL 16, so unrealistic scenarios need not apply.

http://www.tsn.ca/kings-sign-d-ehrhoff-to-one-year-deal-1.349794 Once upon a time I would've loved to see him in a Wings jersey. Not so much anymore. Maybe he'll step his game up with the Kings. I doubt it.

http://www.therichest.com/sports/hockey-sports/12-worst-free-agent-signings-in-nhl-history/11/ No surprise Stephen Weiss is on the list. And Ville Leino rightfully made the list as well. Can you guys think of any other signings that should've made the list? Hate to say, but I actually wanted David Clarkson during his free agency period. Thank God we dodged that bullet.

Such a tough choice here. They're both basically at the same level. Which is great considering how young they still are. I went with Tatar, but Nyquist is obviously highly skilled as well. And the great thing is they will both likely get even better as their careers go along.

Loved all of our lines. But when Dougie Brown played with Fedorov, he literally turned into a whole diff level of a player. Ahhhh miss those days so much. Even tho it definitely is still great to be a Red Wings fan. Those days were straight up magical.

Sharp & Johns to DAL for Daley and Garbut
TheDetroitRedWings replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
Daley is a pretty solid d-man. But they just got a little worse losing a player like Sharp. And that brings a smile to my Blackhawk-hating face. -
New Ultra-Enhanced Video/Renderings of the Arena District
TheDetroitRedWings replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Can't wait! As much as I'll miss the Joe for the tradition and all the memories, it's getting old and run down. And we'll make new memories in the new arena. The best organization deserves the best arena. And unfortunately the Joe is a dump. Still has tons of charm, but it's time to move on. Plus the new arena is a much better location. -
Oh okay, yeah that makes sense then. I guess now if we do anything more it will be via trade. But honestly, I'm fine with not trading and just going forward with this current roster.
-
Exactly. There was a time when I was very frustrated with Abby being on the 1st line. But since then he's more than proved he deserves to be a top line guy now.

After the Green and Richards signings, I'm pretty sure we still have 6 mill in cap space. But im not for sure on that. If so, I wonder if we're still shopping?

signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Another great aspect of this signing! Not only a perfect fit for what we need. But also finally a big time right handed shot at the point! -

And the ironic thing is he was drafted with the pick we gave to Washington for Robert Lang. Full circle indeed! Welcome to the best organization in sports Mike!! -

Way late to the thread apparently. Super stoked for this signing! We've needed an offensive defenseman for so long (basically since Nick retired) and now we finally have one! Yeah he's not the second coming of Lidstrom, but he definitely fills a big need of ours! Bravo Kenny! First time in years that I'm this excited on July 1st! -
Doubt that'll happen. But that would certainly be a great move for us. Also depends of course on how much we'd have to give up for him. Which would likely be a lot.

IMO at least 40.
