Hopefully, a little bit of manipulation and some epidural steroid treatments can get him going again. Most important though, is rest. I'd rather have him sit for a month or two, and heal up, than have him rushed back, only to deal with lingering back problems. Of course, I say this knowing that back pain never goes away, you just learn to tolerate it better than others. Get well soon, Bert. We need your big body and your shootout prowess. We need to get rid of guys like him that play sound defense, are fairly aggressive forecheckers, and makes a hit any time he gets a chance. These kind of guys don't win championships. We need more small forwards who are scared to go to the net and are won't hit anyone because it may hurt. While he's not putting up the numbers we'd like to see, I think he's playing fairly well so far this season. He's not Helm, but he is filling in pretty well in his absence. Him being put out on the first line yesterday, makes me thint I'm not the only one who feels this way.

If it wasn't Cooke, I might think it was accidental. The way he goes to put his skate down, makes me think that this was a little more intentional. I do like that Clarkson busted a few of his chicklets out when he refused to fight. Getting ready to leave in 15 minutes. These matinees are dreadful, especially back to back. I can see that from the teams that are losing money, but that makes no sense from a team that is making money and has to give some to the ones losing money. I can't imagine The IRS has a form asking, "How much did you give to The Coyotes, last year?"

With several teams in a very precarious financial state, I think the word that should be being discussed, is contraction. It would seem a more fiscally responsible thing to do. I can't, for the life of me, see why they would want to add teams, when more than half of the current teams are swimming in red ink. Or at least wading in it.

The puck bunnies that chase Z, are 1% cuter than those that chase Pavel. I feel that Babcock is behind this, also. Such a conspiracy.

I'd take Franson in a heartbeat, but seeing that The Leafs just signed him for 1 year at $1.2 million on Sunday, I can't believe that they would be dealing him. He's got good size, though he could add a little more muscle. He has a rifle of a shot and is right handed, and has good offensive upside. His defensive end game could use a little work, but he has only played 3 years in the NHL and seems to improve every year. I kind of see him as a mix between Big Rig and Kindl, still a little raw and needing more playing time to mature. Surprising stat was 80 games played 29 points, and only 30 PIM's 2 years ago in Nashville. He's not the big bruiser I'd like on our back line, but he could possibly become a little more defense oriented. Remember, Big E was supposed to be a puck mover, but is working better into a shutdown role every season. Of course, Franson could become Willie Huber, also.

Received emails from both The Red Wings and Olympia Entertainment today. The Red Wings password was "Zetterberg", the Olympia Entertainment password was "Miller". Both stated that password was good for "fee free" tickets beginning at 9 am Thursday.

Another article article that fails to look into the reason that Detroit has so many fans around the country. He surely wasn't born before the first great migration in the early to mid 70's. Probably not born before the large migration that took place from 79-83. Maybe was in diapers during the 86-92 movement of jobs out of the state and subsequent economic downturn. Probably not even familiar with the all of the economic issues in the Detroit area that drove more people out of the state looking for work elsewhere during the 2000's. I can't for the life of me, see how there could be so many Wings fans across the country? Every team has "bandwagon" fans using this guys reasoning. Put Vancouver at the bottom of the standings for a few years, and his team will help show how dedicated their fans are, too. Outside of Toronto, Montreal, and The Rangers, every team will have empty seats if they don't put a competitive team on the ice.

How did you know??? I was actually supposed to have my knee replacement, replaced today, as it has worked it's way lose of my femur, and moves around just a little bit in the most uncomfortable way. Had to cut back on my drinking for the last three weeks and none in the last three days for preparation. Showed up at the hospital at 3:00 am today for registration and preparation for surgery, had my leg shaved and drawn on in marker already and was preparing for a nerve block, when I got the word that due to Dr.'s illness, my surgery would have to be cancelled for today and rescheduled later. Needless to say, I am not overly thrilled at this moment. I showed my disdain of this situation, by drinking a pint of vodka with my breakfast when I got back home this morning. Good points- more time to do some work around the house in preparation for winter, and a few more days to raise the sails. Bad points- if the season starts on time, I will have to miss some games. Something I had made sure wouldn't happen when I scheduled for this time of year. Oh well, life goes on. The person below me has had a major surgery.

Knee Day, has been postponed.... Just wish they would have told me this before I showed up at the hospital and sat through an hour of pre-surgical prep. I welcome the stay of execution though. Still a few things to do before I'm laid up. This could cause problems if the season starts on time.
