    Sheldon Souray Signs With Anaheim

According to TSN, it is a 3-year deal worth $11 mil. Annual cap hit of 3.66 mil. Not sure how Ducks fans are fonna feel about this one.
  2. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

Phoenix inks David Moss to 2-year deal

Good deal for Phoenix. Moss has some size and is a good role player.

    Jay McClement signs With Leafs

Toronto was quiet on the first day.
  4. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Bryan Allen signs with Anaheim

    Good pickup for Anaheim.
  5. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

Jason Garrison signs with Canucks for 6 years @ $4.6M/yr

Vancouver just got a little (emphasis on little) less douchier. He's got serious potential. Oh well. Bring Suter in, Ken!

    George Parros Signs with Panthers

These useless goons have no place in the league, which is why a ton of them were signed on the first day of free agency. Would've liked him here. Good luck in Florida.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

I don't mind this signing at all. He'll give the 4th line some identity. Hopefully Abdelkader will follow his lead. He's a hard hitter, drops the gloves, and very annoying. I like it.
  8. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

Red Wings Sign G Jonas Gustavsson to 2-year deal, $1.5M/yr

I don't mind this signing at all. It'll be interesting to see how he performs when called upon.

Red Wings Sign Mikael Samuelsson to 2-yr, $6m deal (w/full NTC)

I'm puzzled by this signing. However, if he serves as Hudler's replacement, I don't mind this. The NTC is bullschit, though. Ken has to be working on acquiring a big name. There are just too many players on our roster right now, and with it looking less likely that we'll get Parise, it is basically necessary that we make a big trade. Preferably, I'd like to see us get Bobby Ryan. We've got some decent assets in Filppula and Kindl. No way Ryan can come back next year with everything that has gone on lately. LGW has naturally gone into irrational panic mode, but I think Ken has something up his sleeve.

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

I'd rather see Detroit go after Garrison , as opposed to trading for Jay Bouwmeester. If Suter wants to wait around, f uck him then. Don't wait around while all the other options go elsewhere.

The Grass Is Always Greener - Johan Franzen

If Franzen is comparable to Lucic, then Hudler is comparable to Pat Verbeek.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Agreed. Prust definitely has more to offer. Considering the inflated market, or whatever you wanna call it, I think 2.2-2.5/year for Prust is a steal. No way Gaustad is worth north of 3 mil/year.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Several topics have been focusing on the offseason, and the pressure is clearly on Ken to shake things up. Personally, I feel that we need at least one sniper, and at least one grinder for the bottom 6 that will give the 4th line some identity and make this team harder to play against. Obviously, a guy that can contribute offensively once in a blue moon, and a guy capable of skating a regular shift. This list (To nobody's surprise) will focus on the grit aspect. Below is the mother of all lists of both UFAs and RFAs that I feel will make this team harder to play against. The player's age, stats, and cap hit are included. FORWARDS (UFA): *Shane Doan- 35 years old, 50 points and 48 penalty minutes in 79 games, $4.55 mil. He's be a good addition for the top 6. Ideally, I'd like someone younger but he is still an effective player and leader *Taylor Pyatt- 30 years old, 19 points and 23 penalty minutes in 73 games, $1 mil *Dan Winnik- 27 years old, 23 points and 52 penalty minutes in 84 games. $950,000 *Jake Dowell- 27 years old, 7 points and 53 penalty minutes in 52 games, $800,000 *Brad Winchester- 31 years old, 10 points and 88 penalty minutes in 67 games, $725,000 *Byron Bitz- 27 years old, 4 points and 14 penalty minutes in 10 games, $700,000 *Rod Pelley- 27 years old, 3 points and 16 penalty minutes in 52 games, $550,000 I'd consider the following to be a 13th forward to dress when we play a tougher team, like the Blues. *Krys Barch- 32 years old, 5 points and 114 penalty minutes in 51 games, $837,500 *Jay Rosehill- 26 years old, 0 points and 60 penalty minutes in 31 games, $600,000 *Guillaume Desbiens- 27 years old, 0 points and 25 penalty minutes in 10 games, $525,000. Probably will get a 2 way deal with someone. DEFENSEMEN (UFA) *Jim Vandermeer- 32 years old, 4 points and 33 penalty minutes in 25 games, $1 mil FORWARDS (RFA): *T.J. Oshie- 25 years old, 54 points and 50 penalty minutes in 80 games, $2.35 mil *Matt Martin- 22 years old, 14 points and 121 penalty minutes in 80 games, $852,500 *Jamie Benn- 22 years old, 63 points and 55 penalty minutes in 71 games, $821,667 *Mike Blunden- 25 years old, 4 points and 27 penalty minutes in 39 games, $615,000 *Kyle Chipchura- 26 years old, 16 points and 42 penalty minutes in 53 games, $550,000 DEFENSEMEN (RFA) *Theo Peckham- 24 years old, 3 points and 80 penalty minutes in 54 games, $1.075 mil *Mark Fistric- 25 years old, 2 points and 41 penalty minutes in 60 games, $1 mil

    Armstrong done in Toronto

Armstrong could replace Arron Asham in Pittsburgh's lineup next year. In other buyout news: *The Devils appear to be parting ways with Eric Boulton. NJ placed him on unconditional waivers with the purpose of buying him out. *The Panthers have placed Matt Bradley and Mike Santorelli on unconditional waivers with the intent of buying their contracts out. *The Stars have bought out Eric Godard. Didn't play a regular season game in the NHL last year. His career may be over.

    Hudler to test free agency

Finally. Hopefully he signs with someone quickly tomorrow.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Bump. I've updated the list. There are still plenty of guys left for tomorrow. Prust is the guy I want.
  17. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Paul Gaustad re-signs with Predators

That's ridiculous for Gaustad. Glad Nashville was dumb enough to sign him to that kind of contract. Better than us.
  18. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Ryan White Re-signs With Montreal

One year, one-way deal worth $687,500, per TSN. He was injured for the majority of last season. Good to see he got the one-way deal. This is his chance to make a name for himself.
  19. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Ryan Wilson Re-signs with Colorado

Three year deal with a cap hit of $2.25 mil, according to various sources. Rumors were swirling that he could have been dealt at the draft, but I think it was wise on Colorado's part to keep him around. Ferocious hitter and a decent fighter. Seems to play well in his own end.

    High End Trade Options

Parise would never sign for $7 mil.
  22. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Shane O'Brien re-signs with Colorado

Was hoping he'd hit the free agent market.
  23. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

Shane Doan to test free agency

I'd rather us get Doan than Semin. Doan isn't the first guy on my list, particularly because of his age, but at least he's got heart and that desire to win the Cup. To those calling him dirty and cheap, people said the same about Chelios and Bertuzzi when they were brought here.
  24. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension

I don't think we can get both Parise and Suter here. I think Suter will be a lock to sign in Detroit. Plus, the prospect of playing with Crosby and Malkin may be more appealing than playing here. Who knows.
