So let's see, the Wild have been in existence for 11 years & have made the playoffs all of 3 times. I'm throwing it out there right now, even with adding Suter & Parise to the mix, they'll see less playoff appearances in the next 10 years than the Wings. The Wings front office is still pretty much the best damn one in the business regardless of what happened today. Kenny pretty much said it himself that they, and every other team making offers really, were not in a position to complete for those two based on them already making up their minds that they wanted to go "home" to play. Reading some of the coverage from down in Nashville, I find it revealing that David Poile all but flat out called Suter a liar in his comments, mentioning that Suter had told him that he would circle back to the Preds to let them counter offer before all was said & done. Personally, I think that the dog & pony show that played out over the last few days was all about Suter & Parise already being 99% sure they were signing with Minny unless someone came in WELL over the top with an offer, like max money i.e. $14m a year, and while it stings not getting either one today, I think in the long run I'll be glad the Wings didn't bite.

It's one of those constants in life, like the sun rising in the east & setting in the west. You can no more change one than the other.

Could Wings still make a move on Weber this year?
ogreslayer replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
Floating an offer sheet to an RFA hasn't been something Kenny's been interested in the past based on what I've seen. Not quite sure losing out on Suter would put him & ownership in enough of a desperation mode to do that with Weber. -
Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
ogreslayer replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
And if both do sign with the Wild, to add insult to injury, the NHL's realignment plan once it's done will probably put them in the same division as the Wings. If that happens, wind up Helm, Tootoo, Abby, Smith, & Kronner and set them loose on those two every time we face them. I'm usually a "glass half empty" guy but it's starting to feel like the only thing left in the glass with these two is backwash.- 487 replies

He supposedly has a way with the ladies...of the evening. Rumor was his really hot model girlfriend caught him with 2 hookers right before he started up in the KHL & dumped him. True or not, the story's kinda taken on a life of its own around here.

Anyone else find it a little weird that they ran Modano out of town for being too old but now they sign up a couple of 40 year olds for a combined $9m a year a couple of seasons later?

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Why not this? Or maybe: -
He pretty much proved last year w/ signing with the Flyers that he was all about the money. I wonder if it's because he ran up too many debts in those Eastern European casinos while in the KHL & is in deep to the Russian mob

List of why Zach Parise and Ryan Suter should choose the Red Wings...

Because who would want to wear this abomination... When you can wear the best damn logo EVER in the history of sports. You know, the one worn by these guys... -

I'm not surprised that Malts would hit his target. He was a 50 goal scorer in juniors after all...- 487 replies

Over on letsgoflames.com posting a passionate defense of the Hudler signing already would be my guess.

Agreed but by what's leaked so far, C'Bus is asking for a top 6 forward, 2 top 6 dmen, a couple to top prospects, & multiple picks in return for Nash. I think someone needs to let Howson know that he's not trading Wayne Gretzky in his prime.

I have a feeling the asking price for Nash if he were to end up a Wing would be something along the lines of Flip, any 2 of White/Ericsson/Smith/Quincey(if signed), Nyquist, Tatar, & a couple years worth of 1st round picks based on what's leaked about C'bus's demands. edit: I could see C'bus maybe wanting Mrazek instead of a second forward prospect in Tatar.

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
ogreslayer replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
And this is why, in the new CBA, the NHL really needs to institute a week or two for teams to negotiate with UFAs before they're allowed to sign. Random thought: Do you think the delay is to allow Craig Leipold the time to check the sofa cushions for more change so he doesn't get out bid for Parise? -

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
ogreslayer replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
If not Detroit, I'm just hoping he follows Marty & re-signs in Jersey. I've got no love for the Devils but I would rather see Parise stay there than sign with the Pens, Flyers, or Wild. -
I wonder, do all the prostitutes in Calgary smell like cattle? Good luck to ya Jiri. Glad the Wings won't be paying you that $4m a year.

This just in, I'm trading a 1999 Honda Civic in for a brand new Buggati Veyron... If Kenny was stocking up on forwards now in anticipation of a trade, I think the chances are it's for Bobby Ryan instead of Nash. The last speculation I saw was that C'Bus was asking for 1 top 6 forward, 2 top 6 d-men, 1 top prospect, & multiple #1 draft picks. I think it's doubtful that C'Bus's asking price will drop significantly after Parise signs somewhere. Personally, I would prefer that Kenny puts a package together to go after Keith Yandle but I don't see Phoenix taking on a contract like Frazen's (if he were to be included) unless their ownership situation is taken care of.

Ilitch, Chelios to fly to Suter, Holland to fly to Parise
ogreslayer replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Evidently, Parise is looking for a $12m signing bonus: https://twitter.com/RealKyper/status/219421571448705024 Wouldn't it be great if Kenny showed up like an absolute pimp today with a briefcase full of bearer bonds? "Here's your $12m Zach...You have 10 minutes to give me a decision"- 79 replies

Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension
ogreslayer replied to Salviaman's topic in General
Look like Jordan's now signed long term. Supposedly 10 years for $60m. From Jim Rutherford's twitter feed: https://twitter.com/HurricanesGM/status/219449390358736896 -
Valtteri Filppula - we should get him locked up as soon as possible
ogreslayer replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Is that because he reminds you of a dolphin? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M20x1iNKXHY I actually wouldn't be surprised if Flip ends up finishing his career as a Wing.
