Winter Classic Ticket Holders, What are you going to do?
juiceman replied to shoe's topic in General
Stubhub will automatically refund you your money + fees that you paid out. You do not have to do anything. I believe in this case, Stubhub did not actually process your money to the seller's account due to the uncertainty of the event. They took your payment, but held it basically. So, there should be no issue of refunding you your money & taking money back from the seller, especially if he wants to hold onto the tickets for the next season. -
Winter Classic Ticket Holders, What are you going to do?

According to the info on the Wings site, a refund means you will get back all fees, not just ticket cost. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/m_news.htm?id=644827 -
Nothing. Supposedly the NHL will be making the announcement tomorrow now. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=408543 I know that the rumor was that it was going to be cancelled on Monday, October 29th, then it was changed to Nov. 1st. However, November 2nd is when the NHL has to make a non-refundable payment of $250,000 to the University of Michigan. When the contract was first signed back in February, the NHL paid the university $100,000, which is all they would be out if the game was cancelled anytime up to November 2nd. After November 2nd, the league is responsible to make the payment on November 2nd, $1,000,000 on December 7th, and another $1,000,000 on December 28th. Plus the league would also be responsible for any documented out-of-pocket incurred by the university after November 2nd. http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/20038/winter-classic-contract-details Copy of the contract between the NHL and the University of Michigan: http://www.annarbor.com/2012/02/20/NHL%20AGREEMENT.pdf So, unless the NHL feels that there is enough progress being made between the NHL and NHLPA to risk not cancelling the event, plus all of the events at Comerica Park, it is pretty much guaranteed that the Winter Classic will be cancelled on November 2nd.

Report: NHL may cancel Winter Classic by November if no CBA deal

It should be noted too that if the Winter Classic does not take place, then all of the other games/events at Comerica Park do not take place as well. -

Honestly, if you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at the NHL. This is their event, they are the ones who set the prices & the ticketing policy. The Wings & Leafs are each getting a percentage of the ticket sales. This really isn't considered to be a true home game for the Wings, otherwise season ticket holders would not have to buy their tickets separately from their packages. It sucks for a lot of people out there who would like to go the game, but unfortunately that's the way it is.

That response from the Griffins could just be the standard line that ticket reps are told to give out. They were probably told that as a way to try to get more sales of ticket plans. "If you want to go to the Winter Classic, you need to purchase season tickets." We'll just have to wait & see though.

That was also the first professional hockey game played in Toronto in the month of June.

Likely it's because the Red Wings didn't want to tip their hand by saying that Holland, Illitch, and even Babcock will be attending. By saying that all of the suits would be there, then everyone would know what was up. I figure that Illitch & Babcock will also be in attendance.

No, it was a conference call. Greg Wyshynski @wyshynski They did not. Conference call.

That site, along with www.2013winterclassic.com are not official NHL, Detroit Red Wings, or Toronto Maple Leafs sites. They are both ticket broker websites.

I think that there needs be a Wings/Leafs game at the ACC in December especially if HBO will do 24/7 for this Winter Classic (or a similar show on another network). The Winter Classic should not be the only game between the two teams next season.

I wonder if the NHL would consider putting an Olympic size rink in at Michigan Stadium for the game. This was the case for the Michigan State/Michigan game there in 2010 & it looked a lot better in relation to the size of the stadium, sight lines for the crowd, etc. Olympic Size Rink To Be Used For The Big Chill At The Big House?

Truth be told, no one knows at the moment how the tickets will be sold for this. Everything right now is just a guess. For all we know, they might not even do a lottery like has been done in the past. They might end up doing like a pre-sale for the general public (after the season ticket holders have their go around), and then perhaps a lottery or a general sale afterwards. I would recommend going to both teams sites and signing up where you can receive more information on the event. I likely think that we won't know more until at least the playoffs, but wouldn't be surprised if it were the summer before there is anything official concerning tickets. I know that someone here had posted a link to the site: 2013winterclassic.com, however that site is not a site affiliated with either team or the league, it's basically a ticket broker website.

I got 6th row in the upper bowl for the Leafs game when I when online today. I didn't know about the pre-sale until late Tuesday & couldn't find any pairs (except for SRO) for the Leafs, just scattered singles. Although, I got good seats Tuesday for the Montreal and New Jersey games. I will second that StubHub is safe. You might also want to try Ticketmaster's TicketExchange, which is a partner with the Wings.

It does look terrible, but it's just a TV thing. There is absolutely nothing on the glass, watch when they do a replay or go to a different camera angle, such as from behind the net.
