Trade Huskins to Flyers for conditional 7th rd pick (2014)
Nevermind replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Even though Calgary can eat part of his salary, I think the cap hit would remain the same. So Detroit would basically save only on real dollars paid and not on cap space. A team like the Wings wouldn't give up more assets in a trade just to help their owner out financially. Not 100% sure if the cap hit remains the same though. Anyone have some insight? -
He's not playing Sunday or Monday. Probably the best decision--but from a fan standpoint, I really can't wait to see him in game action. http://www.freep.com/article/20130329/SPORTS05/130329087/detroit-red-wings-danny-dekeyser

Red Wings lead NHL in man-games lost to injury
Nevermind replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Apparently San Jose has had ZERO injuries all season. Guess that's how soft their team is. -
So sorry, but... 2/17/2013 Missed 12 games (groin). 3/30/2012 Missed 1 game (lower body injury). 1/05/2012 Missed 5 games (back injury). 12/08/2011 Missed 22 games (groin). 6/15/2011 Missed the last 13 playoff games (left leg injury). 4/17/2011 Missed 1 game (illness). 4/05/2011 Missed 6 games (lower body injury). 12/11/2010 Missed 1 game (mild concussion). 4/04/2010 Missed 8 games (upper body injury). Sure, you could call the broken finger a fluky thing, but it's not like he's been healthy before that.

Kindl seems to play really well with him too.

Semin re-signs with Carolina: 5 years, $35 million ($7M/yr)

And I thought Getzlaf and Perry got too much for having a history of questionable work ethics. -
http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/01/red_wings_giving_veteran_forwa.html I don't see us signing him. At least I hope not--not with Nyquist/Tatar in GR.
-
Z and Brunner would be better off with Filppula anyways.
-
This is why you draft European
-
If Brunner and Nyquist can are NHL-ready top 6 forwards, I like our first two lines. We have a glut of 3rd liners though...so Bertuzzi gets put on the 4th. Maybe he can start being a grinder? Filppula-Zetterberg-Brunner Nyquist-Datsyuk-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Samuelsson Bertuzzi-Abdelkader-Tootoo (Eaves/Mursak) Our D sucks. We're all probably overly optimistic on Smith too. Kronwall-White Smith-Colaiacovo Quincey-Ericsson (Kindl) Howard Gustafsson

I'm glad that Wideman is no longer an option for us. He just looks terrible in his own zone.

Hopefully you'll have to photoshop Parise and Suter into Wings sweaters.
-
Everything looks great! One problem though. After last season, I think Franzen still has to earn having his picture on the top of the site. It's odd seeing him in the company of Datsyuk, Zetterberg and the Wings greats of old.

I hate Ribeiro. And this makes the Caps less gritty and less suited for playoff hockey. Don't know what they were going for.
-
He's not better than Parise. Besides, Parise is much, much better defensively and actually works hard night in, night out. And we'd still have to give up assets to get Stewart. The Blues would probably charge us a higher price anyways. My last complaint is that I don't get the pun. Maybe if you said Stewart was a dark horse on the trade market?
-
No young forward on our team is making considerably more than him. And his numbers have a lot to do with playing on Claude Giroux's wing. I do. Do the words grit, character and backcheck mean anything to you?

Nick is just downright impressive on and off the ice
Nevermind replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
What newspaper is this? I know he's rich, but not many people would still take out a full page ad just to say thanks. What a classy guy! It shows he really cares about the fans. -
NJD/LAK: 4-1
-
I remember them fighting for their playoff lives and still losing a game in regulation to us. Who knew? Hopefully we can congratulate the NYR soon. Just because I selfishly don't want Parise to make the Finals with the Devils.
-
I would take Yzerman's word for it. Link

Agreed 100% Semin probably actually has more natural offensive talent than Parise. That doesn't mean s*** though since he's a much, much less effective player because of his lack of grit, work ethic, and defensive awareness. Conversely, Parise has all of these qualities that Semin's lacking...and he has them in spades. Parise's forecheck alone would be a huge example for this team. He scores the dirty goals around the net. Semin's another perimeter player. We don't want more players like this. I'd rather have gritty, aggressive, 3rd and 4th liners who are hard on the forecheck and tough to play against. At least we'd then be a more well-rounded team.

PHX/LAK: 4-3 NYR/NJD: 4-2

Close to what I would want. I would rather sign Konopka over Gaustad, though. Konopka's also very good on faceoffs (maybe even a bit better). And while he's 5 inches shorter, he's still more physical and can keep the flies off better. Most importantly, Konopka should be much cheaper and cost under $1.5M. I think Gaustad's been horribly overrated lately and is bound to be overpaid this summer.

So what did Datsyuk vs. Zetterberg look like? Were they out many for many shifts against one another?

The Official NHL Suspension Thread
Nevermind replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Giroux suspended one game Wow. Giroux's Philly's best player too...and Shanny suspended him for an elimination game. I honestly don't think it was worthy of a suspension. A $2,500 fine would be appropriate. Giroux was running around because his team was losing at the end of the period and he plays the game with a lot of passion. He's definitely not a dirty player by any means though. I think he was just frustrated and trying to wake his team up. It looks like he caught him shoulder-to-chin. It's not like he shoved his head into the glass or anything. (Yeah, I know...that horse has been beaten to death a long time ago)
