No way I trade nyquist unless a team offers something we can't refuse.. And I don't see that happening. Nyq is going to be stellar. Not sure what I'd trade but if it's what kennys really looking into, I'm sure he'll make sure it's a decent deal.

I think Cleary, emmerton, 2nd might get it done. Although Calgary might like mursak emmerton 4th better. I doubt we give up franzen or nyq for him (or at all). Also, its not smith who's ice time would depend on aquiring another d man, its kindl. I think smith ends up playing up all year and just as much either way. Kronner-white Jbo-smith Quincey-Ericsson Something similar to that and I'd be happy. I think jbo would have a great year playing for a great team.

But NHL '09 might But yea, it would take more for sure and probably more than most people on here would be willing to give up. I doubt there's a deal Calgary would accept for jbo and Iginla that I'd be happy with anyway.. Edit: actually '09 probly wouldn't either.. Considering Iginla would be 4 years younger. Was just joking because trading used to be so easy in the NHL games haha

i'd like to see something like.... nyquist-datsyuk-mule brunner/sammy-zette-filp brunner/sammy-helm-bert cleary/eaves-abby-toots brunner/sammy i guess depends on how they blend with the lines. i think sammy will probly end up on the 2nd line although i'd like to see it be brunner. if brunner does end up on helms line tho, their combined speed would be awesome. i wouldn't mind if sammy and bert were both in the top 6 tho. then we could have a speed demon line in brunner-helm-nyq.. as far as cleary goes.. i don't think he really fits on the roster too well. unless he comes out hard and bounces back this year but yeah, we have too many forwards no doubt. that's why i think we've been trying to trade. then again it could just be injury depth since the injury bug hasn't been the best to us in recent years.

I do too. But I also like scoring goals on O. Trading for one top d man (probably sometime after the season starts or at the deadline) while getting rid of a smaller amount of offense then signing a third pair guy like kubina or coliacavo is our best bet.

Is this a joke? Id rather not trade away half our offense for a couple dmen. We'd be better off before that trade.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't accepted yet. I read (I think tsn said) that both sides are far apart and he's looking for a longer term

Yea that's a good point. I just thought I remembered reading someone say "wings are out on doan, price too high" but if we have an offer on the table then were not out until doan tells us we are.. Idk, I'm not the biggest doan fan so I won't be upset if he goes elsewhere but he would help this team so either way, I'm fine with it. Agreed though, that Kenny is most definitely working on the d situation. Personally I'd love to see a trade for yandle and a signed kubina.. Pretty sure we'll at least sign one of the UFAs you listed later in the off season at a bargain for our bottom pair. If we don't trade for a d man now, I'd expect it at the deadline.. Only time will tell so we'll see. I'm still stoked for this season no matter what happens.

Interesting.. Thought we were out on doan because price was too high or whatever but.... Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Red Wings are still waiting on Shane Doan. Wings GM Ken Holland has spoken with Doan and agent Terry Bross numerous times this month. The Wings won’t give Doan a deal where he becomes the highest paid player on the team. Sounds unlikely that we sign him so if that's the case, why are we waiting on him?

I've been reading some of his stuff and I feel like yea, he's right sometimes and often before anyone else. But I think he just puts out so many tweets and hopes to be right/ hopes people don't notice when he's wrong. Then again, they are all rumors and it is fun to speculate.. I don't think id trust him 100% of the time but I'll still read his posts at least out of curiosity/boredom haha
