Yup. And fills a need for both; especially given the injuries to Getzlaf and Kessler I agree the ducks probably win it by a little bit but I don’t know anything about the second player and it’ll depend on what they do with the pick. I do like Vatanen, but think they sold high and they definitely have the depth to make up for his loss. Like the trade for both sides for sure.

Hindsight is one helluva drug.. Really though, weren’t they in some level of bidding war with the rangers? To the point where the rangers thought they had the deal done before the flyers were officially announced in the trade, IIRC.

A little nit picky, i know, but I would say more so an elite 1C plus another all star forward.. (ovi and kane come to mind as wingers that are franchise cornerstones). Also, Seguin wasn’t in the top six on Boston because they’re terrible at managing players But I do agree with the overall idea of your post.

Wait a minute, we brought lashoff in to play forward? Or is that just how whereever CRL got the lines from puts a 7th defenseman? Seems like an odd choice either way..

Puts him on pace for almost 7 goals across 82 games with Pittsburgh. That’s 3.5x what he did for us last year! Imagine where he’ll be in a couple years if he keeps up that progress. Way to go holland... /s

Agreed that DK is a good second pairing D man. And he’d obviously look a lot better in the top 2 if we had a legit top defnsman.. but, ideally 2nd pairing is the best spot for him it seems.

Right. That’s why I said not just because he’s from Michigan. I don’t think DK sucks.. maybe he’s not as good as some were hoping but mostly, he’s just usually playing too high in the lineup. Which has been kind of out of necessity. 100% this. Well said.

If Mantha keeps progressing the way he has, we’ll make sure we keep him. Assuming we don’t get a trade offer we can’t refuse anyway. Agreed with those saying Larkin very likely gets the C after Zetterberg leaves.. but not just “because he’s from Michigan.” The whole being from Michigan thing is so old and overblown. It’s just a small bonus in players, not a priority.. many teams have hometown players.

Whoever got hired to run their twitter decided that was the best way to run it? I don’t know, but it’s definitely getting attention/fans from the looks of the replies.. which I guess is the main point of social media from a business standpoint. It’s been pretty entertaining imo.
