No, they traded Fehr who was loaned to San Diego of the AHL for a 2020 7th rounder. He only played 4 games with the Leafs this season. I guess San Jose hope he can still be a reliable 4th line center. He put up 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 34 games with the Gulls this season.

The players we'd like to trade aren't "immovable", Holland just doesn't want to move them. The only player I'd really like to trade that definitely isn't, is Nielsen. He probably wouldn't make their top 6, but he would be in the mix for sure. The Preds are looking for depth on the wings, aka top 9. Most middle 6 wingers are interchangeable anyway. I think Nyquist or Tatar would be a good fit and a great addition for Nashville. In Light The Lamp tonight, Ken once again took Tatar, and said Tats asked him before the game if he was sticking with him and Ken replied, "I sure am. For at least ONE (emphasis) more game"... Maybe Ken knows something... Or maybe I'm reading too much into it...

Inquiring doesn't mean there will be a trade. I'd be shocked if DeKeyser gets traded, and I'd be surprised if any more than 3 (including Mrazek) get traded before Monday...

    Tatar and a 2nd?...
  5. I'm not sure about all that, but it would be great to see Tatar have a big night. 2 goals and an assist would do...

I think they would, but not sure what it'd cost... Tatar and Saarijarvi?...

Man, I would love to move Tatar. Kind of surprised it's Tatar they're interested in rather than Nyquist though. Although I know Poile would prefer to trade for a player with term, so maybe the fact that Tatar's locked in for 3 years rather than 1, is making him the better target for the Preds...

Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks

We better out lottery odds. There's no way Holland trades for a backup goaltender. He wants to see what we have in Coreau. I'm not high or Coreau, but I do think he's just as capable as any backup we could potentially get via trade. I think Holland is done with Mrazek, but this would be amazing.

    Karlsson on the move?

And that's just what he's projected to be. Apparently he's the best defenseman leading up to the draft since Denis Potvin. Better than Hedman, better than Karlsson, and better than Lidstrom. This kid is going to be the #realdeal. Edit: ... and I'm not saying he WILL be better than all of those players, just that no defenseman has ever had the hype surrounding him or potential as Dahlin.

    Karlsson on the move?

I don't know about overrated. I don't really hear or see anyone overrating him, other than the small number of people that consider him "elite". He's definitely not elite, but I do think he is / will be a legit 1C (top 31 center) for a long time. I disagree that his speed is his greatest asset. I would say that would be his drive and determination. Which is the number one reason I believe he will reach his full potential. I never said Larkin was "untouchable". This isn't just about the value of Larkin. Obviously if that's all it took, I'd trade him in a heartbeat, but the entire package, it would be a tough call. And there's no saying that the package I suggested would even get the deal done.

    Karlsson on the move?

I agree. Like I said, he most likely will return to form. He's in a dumpster fire of an organization run by two idiots, Melnyk and Dorion. I'm sure there are a ton of things factoring into his down year. He'll probably be better than ever once he gets out of there. We don't though. Beyond Larkin, we don't have a single player with 1C potential. Sure we have a lot of depth at center, but no real high end guys. Rasmussen may surprise and become a 1C, but I doubt it...

    Karlsson on the move?

For us maybe. I'm sure Nashville would say the exact opposite.

    Karlsson on the move?

That easy hey? Like I said, I'd consider it, but in the end I'd have to pass. It doesn't matter if Larkin is on McDavid or Matthews level. We don't have a single other center on the team or in the organization with his upside. Same goes for Cholowski. The only other defenseman with top 2 potential is Hronek. That would be two huge losses. Not to mention the 1st rounder that would likely be another lottery pick... Teams aren't built through free agency. The chance of any of those guys hitting the market is slim, and the chance of any of them coming here is even slimmer... Yes, Karlsson is 27, but will be 29 when his new contract kicks in. I agree about not wanting to give up Larkin. I'd make that trade as well... with hesitation. I'm a huge fan of Karlsson, but he has struggled this season. I'm sure a lot of that is due to the injury, but will he fully recover? Likely, but not guaranteed. Granted, Karlsson at 50% is better than anything we have seen since Lidstrom, but I'd still be hesitant to make the trade package I mentioned.

This makes no sense. You'd rather take the first than Cal Foote because he "hasn't played a single NHL game in his life"? As far as I know, whoever we would get in the late first in the upcoming draft hasn't either... It's like saying you'd rather the 31st overall pick over the 14th overall pick. Also, like amato said, Foote is a year closer to making the jump. Foote > 2018 first round pick (unless we're trading Green to a playoff bubble team, which we won't...). Never mind the 2nd round pick. I hear that's supposed to be a really deep draft...

    Karlsson on the move?

The only way I'd even consider trading for Karlsson is if it was a sign and trade. I have no interest in giving up a ton of assets for any pending UFA. Even with the sign and trade, I'd probably pass (at what I believe it would cost). People are talking about Mantha and a first. That's two big pieces, and even that wouldn't be close to enough. Any trade for Karlsson would start with Larkin and a first, and would likely have to include a high end defense prospect, as well as another high pick. There's a reason players of Karlsson's ilk aren't traded anymore (unless an equal player is coming back the other way). Teams aren't willing to part with the massive package it would take to get them. With more and more teams looking to build through the draft, and young players on ELC's, it just wouldn't make much sense to try to fill one hole, by creating another potentially bigger one. I still say no to Karlsson, unless of course, we're able to lure him as a UFA next summer (2019). Here's a hypothetical sign and trade. Detroit - Karlsson (8 years at $10M) - 29 years old, signed until he's 37. Ottawa - Larkin, Cholowski, 2019 1st round pick, 2020 2nd round pick. Do you pull the trigger? I'd consider it for sure, but in the end, I think I'd pass...

That's best case scenario in my opinion. I'd be okay with another 2-3 year contract at a slight discount ($4.5-5M).

Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks

A lot of Flyers fans are excited about this trade. As they should be. They gave up very little to acquire a goaltender with a lot of untapped potential. If Mrazek pans out, great for them. If he doesn't, no big loss.

Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks

Yeah, pretty much how I feel. I think we should have kept him for the remainder of this season, but I don't think Holland had any intention in qualifying him regardless how he performed down the stretch. I don't like the decision to move on from him, but I guess if we were anyway, at least we got something for him... Whatever. Hopefully he tears it up in Philly and they make it past a couple teams in the playoffs. The chance of a 4th turning into anything is slim, so getting a 2nd would make this a little more stomachable for me...

You're right. That wouldn't be enough. But if that's all it took, sure I'd do it.

    Rumors Thread

No. No we don't know that. You think that. I think the opposite. Every goalie is going to have an off night. I think Mrazek's would be fewer and further between the more experience he gets. He has grown up quite a bit over the past year. He's maturing off the ice, and it's starting to show on the ice. I agree that he'll likely be moved. I think that's the wrong decision, but whatever...

    Rumors Thread

Absolutely. But like I said, I'd rather keep him for the remainder of this season, if he keeps up his current level of play, then I would qualify him at $4M short term. I don't think you want him on this team regardless how he's plays now though... He could play another 20 games this season, have a 0.950 save percentage and 1.5 goals against average and you'd still want him gone... I want him given one last shot. If he plays well, keep him, if not, let him walk this summer. We're out a mid round pick. Oh well...
