It honestly doesn't matter who in net. This team cannot win hockey games without a goalie stealing the game for them. You can't be a good team if you need your goalie to steal every game.

Sounds like last years playoffs.. But don't worry, "We like our team"

Only reason the "90's on the fly rebuild" worked is, we had a team with players that other players around the league wanted to play with/on and no cap. Right now, no one taking a pay cut to play with Z in the top 6 or Helm on the 3rd line or Green on the top D pair. No one gonna take a pay cut to play with theses guys. As much as I like Z, that time is over.

I would agree with you, but I do not believe in our current GM to able to make said trades or moves. Red Wings always appear to come up with one reason or another why we can't do a trade or move... Like kicking tiers, or hand shack deals.

Tanking isn't going to fix the wings problems. Management is the Red Wings problem. Bad contract after bad contract. Lack of trading and we when do, it's a trade to keep alive a Streak not worth keeping alive with our current team. Tag on bad scouting at the very least when it comes to Dman. We are paying: Z until 2021, Franzen until 2020, Ericsson until 2020, Helm until 2021, Abs until 2023, Nielsen until 2022. All these contracts hurt us. Granted Z and Franzen contracts, mainly Z was worth it at the time, they hurt us bad now. Not a signal one of theses players will play up to said contract. And they are all getting paid a lot. This is why we are paying up to the cap, but play like a floor team. Tanking does nothing to fix this problem, you are than hoping you'll find a Kopitar/Doughty, Crosby/Letang, Teows/Keith, Bergeron/Chara, Datz/Lidstrom ... see the common factor here. Than you need to build around them. But you also need the cap space, which we won't have. You need a clear cut 1#Center and 1#Dman to even think about getting back to being a contender. And not everyone of theses players were taken in the top 5.

I wouldn't of cared at all if he had 20points in 12games. Because I don't get cough up in fools gold that's 31 years old. Like I said, we had a chance at a top 5-10 talent and pissed it away. Something we've not had a chance at in over 20 years. I'd rather not taken a contact+player like Nieslsen and taken a chance on Chych.

Most people think this anyway. What would of been any different. None would of cared once Stamkos resign up TB without even looking our way. At least we would of had Chych, not Nielsen at 31mil over 6 years. No Hindsight about it, doesn't take a hockey insider to know Stamkos wasn't coming here, Chych was a top 5 pick from almost half of last year we had a rare chance to get a top 5 at least top 10 talnet in the draft at our weakest position and pissed it away.

This team in general is pretty trash. Even during that 6 game win streak, I had a hard time to bring myself to watch them. If our goalies aren't stealing games, we aren't winning. It's not like we have a Price stealing games for us. Our "log jammed" of forwards we have is a joke. We have at least bottom 5 if not the worst top 6 in NHL. We don't have a single player to be excited about, present or future out side of Larkin, who is still suspect. Our D, pretty much everything I said about our forward can be said but, it's 2x worst. Somehow since Kronwall we've yet to DRAFT Dman worth a damn. Our D has been in trouble since Brain Rafalski retied, best thing we've came up with is sign Green. Mean while, Chychrun looking pretty decent could of at least played a top 4 role right now. We had a chance, that at one point was what a top 5 pick for half of last season and trade it away to make cap space for Stamkos, honestly why would he ever of wanted to come here. Only people I know that honestly thought Stamkos would come to DET were wearing blinders. Which leads to having Van/Nel/Ott, great. Yes I would of rather eaten Datz contact and drafted Chychrun, long before any hindsight I don't even want to get into management and coaching. Since Holland did almost nothing to try and get Brent Burns when he was traded from MIN, he has lost any touch he's had. Babs knew this, was even pissed off about it in the media. If I had to guess, was one of the big reasons why he left. Top FA's don't want to be in DET and Holland can't make a trade happen if his life depended on it. Not even tanking can fix this team. Only way this team can be fixed, if have a GM that can somehow fleece someone in a trade, convinced top FA's they aren't wasting there time here in DET. That can make the tough trade. Along with a Coach that can stand on his own two feet. We have none of that. So here we are, with a broken ass team, that spent up to the cap, with no future. But at least well get 89-92 points, maybe 7th seed if we are lucky. Gotta keep that streak alive at least until the new arena is done. Anything can happen in the playoffs right??

This team.. losing games being up 3-1 3-0 is nothing new. We did this often even with Babs. If I had to bet, we lead the league in loses when up 3-1 in the last 4 seasons.

I don't post much at all, so sorry if something like this has already been posted. I know the hype right now are players like Stamkos, Backes, Okposo, so on. But what about someone like Matt Martin. I've always really liked Martin because he hit everything that moves, everything. If I had to guess not many really care for him, or he may not fit in on our team well. So the question is. What are some of the none top FA guys you wouldn't mind going after if we've got the cap space.

Stevie Y isn't coming back anytime soon. Even if Holland left today. People that think other wise are crazy.
