    What to do about Vanek

Holland is not bad at trading, he just doesn't really do it. GM's that are bad at trading are GM's that make huge mistakes. Had Holland traded Larkin + for Trouba, that would be him being bad at trading. When i think of of GM's who are bad at it, I think of Mike Milbury, Paul Holmgrom and even Peter Cirelli. Though its hard sometimes to know 100% where blame lies as fans never know if ownership is getting involved.

    Conflict in the Crease

My very first memory of Hasek was when he was a backup in Chicago. Someone on the Wings had a breakaway and was coming up the right side and Hasek just went right at him and essentially took out his legs like a baserunner sliding into second base. As a kid I had never seen anything like that before. He was definitely a once in a lifetime talent, and in my opinion at his peak the best goaltender that ever played. Other goaltenders may have had better overall careers when it comes to career totals, but nobody was as dominating in their prime as him.

    Be honest..

To me fighting is just a small factor. Sure you want a PF to be willing to drop the gloves if he needs to, but its not essential. Outside of '88 and '92 Shanahan didn't fight that much (maybe 2-5 times a year) and I consider him a power forward. http://www.hockeyfights.com/players/279

    Be honest..

When I think of Power Forward, the first two names that come to my head are Keith Tkachuk and Cam Neely for whatever reason. I think Todd Bertuzzi when he played with Naslund and Morrison was a Power Forward. I havent thought of that line in a long time, that was a damn good line. I would agree that Abby is one in today's NHL.

Would you guys consider Abby a power forward?

How can so many things be bad?

My bad, I just assumed JVR. I dont know anything about Duclair, so no comment.

Our defencemen scoring in our own nets

I'm really not trying to "split hair", I'm trying to understand your point. Are you talking deflections? Are you talking carelessness (ie. Qunicey the other night) You are not being specific at all.

    The MANtha watch.....

If Franzen never once suffered a concussion, I think its fair to say his production would have been extremely high over a long period of time. If Mantha gets to Franzen level production but can stay healthy I would be ecstatic, that is not a knock on Mantha, its praise for Franzen. I know people get down on Franzen because he would disappear at times, IMO that is what a brain injury will do to you. It scares you, and rightfully so as that s*** is scary.

Our defencemen scoring in our own nets

Are you saying that our D are an issue? Or are you saying are D score on their own net two much? Those are two different things.

We definitely have issues, but this isn't one that I think of as a problem.

    Kyle Quincey

Well if I used wrestling to speak to explain the feelings about KFQ around here, I would say this. Quincey was a tweener on the Wings for years, then when he signed his 2 year contract after the 2014 season, he did a full-out heel turn to join Holland and Cleary as the heel stable on the Wings. (someone made a pretty funny zoolander gif with them). But then last year KFQ turned face as he and DD were an excellent second pairing for us. So I think most now look at Quincey in a positive light, but nobody will forget his heel run. Dickie's comments, I would assume are more pertaining to the heel Qunicey. lol anyone that doesn't know wrestling is going to wonder "what the F is he talking about".

    Jurco injured

I dont think anyone has come out and said anything specific to what happens if the player is lost in the expansion draft, but from my understanding the way the player leaves the team who signed them is irrelevant. The fact that nobody has addressed this confirms it for me.

How can so many things be bad?

If JVR was signed long term maybe, but he has 1 year left after this season which would essentially make him a rental. I dont want to lose a first rounder for a rental.

    Jurco injured

I'm surprised he just looked OK to you. Can I ask if you watched in person or on TV? Not to dismiss either, I'm just curious if it didn't come across on TV. I thought he looked great, especially considering the line he was on.

11/26 GDT: Montreal Canadiens at Red Wings, 7:00 EST

What do you mean? St. Louis is talking to those teams and are exploring a trade for his expiring contract? If so, good. Detroit should not be looking at rentals right now.

    Jurco injured

I was at the game tonight and I thought Jurco looked really good! He had a few chances, I think he even hit a post. He seemed to be involved in the play (especially considering the line he was on.) Very encouraging for his first game back!

You're playing Ott over Abby and AA? I assume with Helm being in, you are considering a completely healthy lineup.

    Jurco injured

According to Kahn Jurco is making his season debut tomorrow: #RedWings Tomas Jurco said he feels quicker after dropping from 200 pounds to 192. Wings season debut tomorrow vs. @DallasStars Ansar Khan ‏@AnsarKhanMLive 15h15 hours ago #RedWings lines at practice: Tatar-Zetterberg-Mantha Abdelkader-Nielsen-Glendening Nyquist-Larkin-Vanek Miller-Sheahan-Jurco (Ott rotating) I am hoping that Jurco playing with Miller and Sheahan is just for a few games. I cant see him playing too many minutes game one, so for the short term I get it. With that being said, unless Jurco is doing something majorly wrong to justify it, if Blashill keeps him 4th line while Glendening is on the 2nd line, I am going to be extremely irritated.

    Panthers Fire Gerard Gallant

As much as I hate the Blackhawks, and as much as it pains me to say it they are a dynasty. Winning 3 cups in 6 seasons in a 30 team league in the cap era is much more impressive then what teams did back in the original 6 era especially when players moving from team to team was not like it is today. If you had an elite team back then, you didnt have to worry about losing players to stay under the cap. Imagine if Chicago could have kept the entire 2010 team together long term. If they still had Buff, Ladd etc. it would have been scary. Even the 2002 Wings, I dont think that cup is possible in a cap world.

I dont think the Wings have ever come out and said anything against analytics, and I think the general consensus on this board is pro analytics as well. Where there is a disconnect is when people seem to think analytics are the be all end all which they are not.

    Smith and Bertuzzi Injury Updates

Is Russo ready? From I have read from people who watch the AHL games, he's not ready yet.

    Panthers Fire Gerard Gallant

By "back in the day" are you referring to 2013? Either way, I cant see Rowe being the permanent coach of the Panthers. I see him doing it short term until he finds a replacement. As a Wings fan I am loving this. I saw this downfall coming and I hoped it was coming as there is nothing better then a team in your division taking a fall. Florida was a perfect example of a team being over-hyped. Outside of Frank, who has an issue with analytics?

    3 Bold Predictions for 2016-2017

Ya....you nailed that one. Its funny that some thought they could have been traded for decent picks.
