I would have rather gotten #1 right.
-
I'm not surprised the Panthers are struggling. I actually think this was one of my bold predictions.
-
I hate to say it, but if he can get us a 1st rounder I dont see how we cant do it. We are not winning the cup this year. I dont want to tank, but there is a difference between tanking and acquiring assets for expiring contracts.
-
That is definitely a unique strategy. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Jimmy Howard out 1 week+ with groin injury, Coreau called up
kliq replied to Jacksoni's topic in General
For the record, I agree he is the goalie of the future. I was interpreting ami's comments. I dont see why so many people here have a Team Mrazek or Team Howard mentality. You dont have to hate one to like the other. chaps20, your comments are a perfect example of what I mean. Someone posted something bad about Mrazek, so rather then bringing Mrazek up, you bring Howard down. I don't get it, they are both good goaltenders. -
I cant ever remember him selling, but to fair that is a bi-product of having your team contend for around 20 years straight. It wasn't until 2013 that you could argue the re-build started, and since then he has had more of a stand pat mentality with the exception of the season he got Zidlicky and Cole.

I think what he/she is trying to say is that Mrazek has had opportunity and has shown that he doesn't have it likely due to his inconsistent play. If he goes on any type of hot streak, trade him so we can get something for him. I dont agree with this, but this is my interpretation. Mrazek has definitely shown an issue with consistency, but I think he has more in him that what we have seen. -
I think the most likely scenario with Vanek is that come the trade deadline we are either in the playoffs, or out by 2-4 points and we hang on to him. I cannot see Holland trading a difference maker away if we are still in it.

Agreed, I think AT BEST he may get us a second rounder.

Getting rid of him is not a smart move unless its a return we cannot refuse. Inconsistency from a young goaltender is completely normal. This is why young goalies are typically paired with an established veteran. If there was no cap, I would have no desire to move Howard. -
Ok, while I still think your logic is incredibly flawed you are definitely European. I dont think Pulkinnen or Frk will do anything either, I referenced them as those are the threads where what I was talking about was referenced. Frk is actually back on the Wings in GR, we picked him back up off of waivers. Vanek doesnt play a game like Chara, thats for sure, but I wouldn't call him soft either.

Or even between two rounds in the playoffs.

Did you actually read what I wrote? Or just skim it? What I said was that I found it funny how the narrative around here is how Holland refuses to get rid of his assets and how he stockpiles young players (read the threads about us losing Frk, Pulk etc.) but then there is also a narrative of how we have no assets. My point was not taking either side, it was pointing out the general hypocrisy. Secondly, I never said that Vanek and Holmstrom where similar players. I used Holmstrom as an example as to how thinking that all "Euro's" are soft while all North American players are strong is an outdated and simple minded way of thinking. Out of curiosity Frank, when you say you are European, which country were you born in? Or are simply talking about European heritage like pretty much every single white person in North America? The fact that you call Vanek soft makes me wonder, do you even watch the games? If no, it makes so much of what you say make sense.
-
What I find funny about comments like this, is I thought the narrative around here is that Holland hoards his assets and stock piles too many. Only on LGW.com can the Holland be accused of hoarding assets and not acquiring enough assets. With that being said, if we are out of the playoff picture I say trade him for picks. I dont want players back, we dont need more Frk's and Pulkkinen's (no offense to these guys, but we need top line guys). Also, can we please stop with the euro BS. I dont see why ethnicity should even be a factor in 2016. Its too bad we had that soft euro Holmstrom for all those years huh.

You are really down on Jurco, huh. I get not expecting him to be some breakout star or anything, but the kid is only 23.
-
I will be the first to admit, my comments are with hindsight. At the time I was 100% for Blashill getting the job.
-
I tuned in at the beginning of the third, but we definitely looked a lot better tonight! We actually seemed to have chemistry, and not nearly as much dump and chase.

Green!!!!!

Ughhh OT....at least we got 1, but I wanted to seal the deal in regulation.

Damn you Quincey!

This kids a damn sniper down that left side! Nice!!!

Sorry Frank, but I 100% agree with Dickie here. I'm not going to sit here and say that management has done an perfect job, but they gave Blashill a roster with a ceiling and a floor, and Blashill is pretty much at the floor of what he's getting out of them. Pretty much everyone has regressed since Blashill took over. Sure you can argue that Babs is a great coach and that was bound to happen, but it shouldn't have been such a strong regression. Holland really should have interviewed more candidates.

If this thread says anything, its that fans are split on what to do with Zetterberg. Holland is pretty much is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation here.
