    Goalie Battle

If Luongo can be traded, Jimmy can be traded. Luongo's contract was much much much worse when he was traded then what Jimmy's is now. After this year, Jimmy has 3 years left at 5.3 million per year. Luongo has a cap hit right now of 4.5 million for another 6 years, and he was traded 2 years ago. Even for a better goalie, 8 years at 4.5million is much worse then 3 years at 5.3 million. If you want to compare stats: Jimmys Stats: This year: 7-7-4, 90.8 SV%, 2.76 GAA Last year - 23-13-11, 91 SV%, 2.44 GAA Luongo's Stats: Last year before trade: 19-16-6, 91.7 SV%, 2.38 GAA 2 Years before trade: 9-6-3, 90.7 SV%, 2.56 GAA

Sick Shootout Goal By Damien Brunner

How was that over the top? He scored a goal to win the game and simply raised his hands in the air as his team came over to hug him. His facial expressions didnt even change.

    Joakim Andesson on Waivers

We're not talking half our team here, we are talking 2 out of 3 players. Ferrero was claimed, Andersson and Kindl were not claimed. I am sure every team has 1-2 guys that could go through waivers and not get claimed at any given time.

    They must be double shifts.

What is everyones second favorite team?

When I was a kid my #2 team was the Pittsburgh Penguins by a mile, I absolutely loved Super Mario. I can still remember watching as a kid his game 2 goal against Minny and just being in awe. My current #2? I would have to embarrassingly say Toronto. Cant help it, my father in law loves them and I watch games with him all the time. After watching him watch them lose year after year after year, you cant help but start to pull for them a bit. Though the Babcock move definitely gave me back some of the hate I used to have as a kid towards them.

Kronwall out 2-4 Weeks after Knee Scope

Completely agree. Kronwall's play this year can be attributed to 1 of 3 things. Change in coaching, decline in skill set, or injury. The easiest one to fix quickly would be a minor injury. Lets hope he comes back after the scope and plays like the Kronwall of old (or at least close to it).

Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

It makes perfect sense lol. Fake an injury, fake medical documents, fake a medical procedure, get an entire team of doctors and medical professionals to all be in on it, all to save placing Joakim Andersson on waivers.

Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

Excellent Point! I knew he was good for us on the PK, but I didn't realize he was THAT good.

    Ericsson, our Giant Teddy Bear

I didn't take it that way, I took it as you showing the problems hockey has. I agree with you to, I said 5-10 years, and my gut tells me it will happen closer to the 10 year mark then 5.

    Ericsson, our Giant Teddy Bear

This game really can get ugly at times, and these kids are taught at such a young age that attacking someone out of frustration is ok. I am all for physicality, but that is something I would never want my kids to be a part of.

    Ericsson, our Giant Teddy Bear

In 5-10 years fighting will be banned in the NHL, and I believe that head shots will have extreme consequences. With what doctors know now and more and more former players being diagnosed with CTE after an early death, there is just no way the game will stay the exact same.

Ya that's why I said supposedly. My gut tells me its true, but we cant know for sure.

    Goalie Battle

Ya that was kind of my feeling about Winnipeg, that's why I put them last on my list. I saw Hellebuyck is playing great this year, and I have seen good things from Hutch, but what they lack is a proven #1 so that is why I included them. I can't say I agree with you on Lack. The guy us 28 years old, Vancouver gave up on him as their #1 guy, and so far on Carolina he has 89.1 Save %, and a 2.97 GAA (not good at all). While I'm sure Carolina is not a great defensive team, he is being outplayed by Ward who in 2015 is not exactly considered an elite goaltender. Don't get me wrong, you never know as look at what Tim Thomas did, the guy could still get there, but I don't think its likely. I would say Carolina definitely should be in the discussion. Lehner has played 2 NHL games since February 2015, he very well could turn into a great goalie but with his injury history I wouldn't put it past Buffalo to get some insurance. A proven NHL vet would not be a bad idea for them.

    Congrats, Joel

I think this may also be in reference to a trade deadline a few years back where Holland wanted to bring back Fedorov and Babcock supposedly put the kibosh on it.

Same thing happened to Richard Zednik, but he was able to get off the ice right away.

    Goalie Battle

Ya I was disappointed when I read Edmonton signed Talbot to a 3 year deal. Even if Edmonton wasn't going to trade for him, if they had any interest in him at all it would have increased his trade value. To me the front runners for Howard would be: Calgary Buffalo (though I doubt Holland wants to trade within division unless its the only choice) Carolina (Ward is a UFA) Philly (Mason has 1 year left on his deal, we pick up that contract for the last year, Philly gets a better goalie for the long term) Winnipeg (same as above but Pavlec)
  19. After 42 games (one game over but close enough) our record sits at 22-13-7. Are youe happy? Disappointed? Or is this exactly where you thought the Wings would be? We stand: - 3rd Place in the Conference - 2nd Place in the Division - 8th Place in the NHL I was high on this team coming into the season, but with the coaching change I thought there would be an adjustment period. Luckily (knock on wood) this adjustment period seems to be over. I would say they are doing a bit better then I thought they would be at this point. Thoughts?

Red Wings at the Halfway Point

Excellent point. It is very frustrating when a person is trying to figure out what went wrong, and someone throws "Don't make excuses" at you. In 2015 if you are not trying to analyze why you lost, then you are not going to get better. Granted, sometimes you do lose because the team you faced was simply better then you, but you have to look at every loss with an open mind, evaluate what went wrong, why it went wrong, and most importantly how can you prevent it from going wrong in the future.

    Congrats, Joel

Ya Frank I dont know where you got them being underrated from.Just one of many examples, here is an article from NHL.com (it is from 2 years ago) where they rank Trotz as the #2 coach in the NHL and Tippet as #4. When you are being called top 4 in the world that is not underrated. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=664268
  22. For whatever reason our guys get so close. Tatar last year (29), Nyquist 2 years ago (28) and Franzen 3 years ago (29) and 4 years ago (28) but the last time someone hit 30 was in 2009 when Hossa, Franzen, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg all did it. Hossa actually had 40 that year.

Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

Ouch, that does suck. Kudos to your girlfriend though for doing a marathon after that type of injury! I have high hopes for Miller, when you have a team dedicated to rehabbing you, and your "9-5" is getting that knee better its alot easier to recover then the average Jane/Joe. It would suck to lose him for the playoffs, we need that type of guy against teams with a high level PP. I would hate to face a Washington or Boston without him.

Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

I'm pretty sure that all the league would have to do is ask to see Drew Miller's medical records. I really doubt this is a giant conspiracy. The guy has a torn meniscus, not a sore shoulder or something, this would be very hard to fake.

    Jakub Kindl waived

I find that so often an injury will solve a impending cap issue. With hockey being such a physical game, it's just inevitable. When Drew Miller comes back, someone else will get hurt. I think we will be okay.
