Ya I remember that as well, he really struggled before that comeback. It was only a matter of time.

We were contenders from 1992-2012, everything done inside that window was done to win a cup. Our leadership inside that window was amazing. If you want to argue that between 2013-2016 we become mediocre and appeared more concerned with the streak then winning a championship, I wouldn't argue with you. I think that the 2013 playoff run was a major reason for that along with the fact that guys like Nyquist, Tatar, Smith etc. appeared to have more potential then they did. Regardless of why, that was a down period where mistakes were made, especially with the consecutive contracts given out to Abby, Nielsen, and Helm. Outside of the Datsyuk trade, that was a bad summer. You said it, we are in re-build more. Not sure why you are accusing anyone of "hiding" behind it. Either Holland and co. lead us to becoming contenders again, or they don't. It's pretty black and white. If we don't get better, I'm sure Holland will be gone. If we get better, he will likely stay. What I won't do, is judge Holland purely on a 3-4 year window when he has been with us since 1998. I dont know enough about Houghes vs Bouchard to comment on your last question.

Couldn't agree more.

This was my biggest worry when he made his last comeback, hopefully he gets better and can put this behind him. I also hope that reading stuff like this may be an eye opener for those who continue to bash Franzen for his "soft play" as there is no doubt in my mind that concussions were the main reason for his decline. So preventable Anyone else remember when Gary Roberts just randomly punched him in the head in the finals because it was known at the time that Franzen had a concussion history.

I don't think the Wings are serious about being competitive in 2018/19.

He's no insider or anything, but like Buppy said he hosts a weekly show called Inside Hockey Town on 97.1 with Ken Kal. He's been a writer/radio personality in the Detroit Area for years. More of a baseball guy I think as I'm pretty sure you used to be a beat writer for the Tigers. I dont take what he says as anything special, just found it interesting. I actually not a huge fan of his, but he's not some schmuck. -

Nothing groundbreaking by any stretch, but just some draft thoughts from Caputo. Interesting that he doesn't even name Bouchard. -
I tend to agree, but I also picked LA, SJ, and Winnipeg.

Red Wings Sign Slovak G Patrik Rybar to Entry Level Contract

Looks like they viewed all three as career minor leaguers. -
Didn't Florida give Vegas Marchessault if they took Smith?

OEL will likely be traded at the TDL next year to a contender, then he'll be signed by the highest bidder in the off-season. I just can't see him staying in Arizona. Zero reason for Holland to give up assets for an upcoming UFA.

@krsmith17 don't get sucked in.

Ask some of those guys who used to "play hockey" how they are doing now. It's not worth it. I prefer to see skill over guys taking head shots. 100% agreed Exactly. Despite what some may think, the athlete of today is so much stronger, faster, and quicker then the athlete of 20+ years ago. When you look at the damage caused by the inferior athlete of that era, just imagine what kind of damage a Scott Stevens type would do now if rules didn't evolve.

Some of you are so ridiculously bias. If that same hit is on Zetterberg, 100% you change your tune.

So what, if he drafts a good player its because he listed to people at the table, but if he drafts a player you dont like he made the decision himself? -
I've said for months now, I think we are getting Bouchard and I'm good with it.

What about his handling were you against?

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I saw this on Sportsnet today regarding the lottery tonight: When and where does it take place? Saturday, April 28, at the Hockey Central Studios in Toronto. There’s an added wrinkle to the unveiling of this year’s draft order, though. On Hockey Central Saturday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, picks 15-4 will be revealed. Then, during the second intermission of the San Jose-Vegas game, the top three picks will be unveiled. (Viewers in the United States can watch it on NBC.) -
I assume you're talking about Vegas. No worries man, they are making the entire hockey world look like idiots. This is just nuts.

The team I hate the most and like to see lose to us the most is Chicago, but I would like to see us beat TB since we have lost to them so many times in a row now. So I guess TB for now, but once we beat them, my answer will be Chicago.
