It is what it is, this is a result of the RFA/UFA system created by the NHL & NHLPA with the current CBA. You can blame Holland for a lot of things, but his tactics in RFA negotiations should not be one of them. It's crazy how people just have their anti-Holland goggles on and refuse to look at the facts, and instead react purely on emotion.

Nah, people will happy at this point. Most fans want us to suck in order to get a pick. What people would be pissed about is if we are sitting 6 points out of the playoffs. Being way out, or being in will make people happy.

Sorry, would stepping aside work for you? I believe that if Holland wants back in, he's back in. I also believe the only way Holland is not back as GM is if he doesn't not want the job anymore, I just can't see Chris Illitch telling Holland that his services are no longer needed as GM. I think Holland will be back because of the fans that give him s***. 5 years ago, Holland's legacy was one of the greatest GM's of all time....now half of the fans want his head. I think Holland will want to prove himself and attempt to win another cup. Not saying I want this, just what I believe is going to happen.

Here is the problem, you are assuming that the new GM will want to make major changes, but that is not a given. You are also assuming that a GM from within will not make any, also an assumption. Fact of the matter is none of us know the mindset of any potential GM's. We are all just guessing. This is why all I want is the most qualified candidate. Do I know who that is? No. Hopefully the hiring committee does (if Holland steps down which I do not think he will do).

For the record, I dont think Yzerman will come here. But for those asking the question "why would he want to come here?" you are forgetting one major reason, money. There is no cap on GM's, who's to say if Holland steps down that the Illitch's dont offer Yzerman 50% more then what he is making now, it is possible. I would have to guess the budget in Detroit is bigger then the budget in TB.

So you're against anyone who has ever had any affiliation with the organization? Fedorov hasn't been a part of the Wings in 14 years. You're really limiting your options by doing that. If Holland steps down, I really dont care if they are in the organization, outside of it, used to be a part of it etc. I want the best person for the job. I want the person doing the hiring to be completely unbiased when making a decision.

Just my gut feeling, though I 100% admit that I could be dead wrong. Zero proof to back it up. It does make sense though, and as long as Kronwall and E are NHL level D, I see them staying as long as Z is here.

I guess it depends on what you think they are selling, if you think they are selling that the Wings are the 7th best team in the NHL (ie. have the 7the best chance at winning the cup), I dont blame you, though I would advise not to interpret the Power Rankings that way. I take it as a ranking of teams based on 1 week of games. Nothing more, nothing less. If a team is 4-1 after a week, they should be ranked high based on those parameters.

I have gone on record in saying that I dont think "loyalty" is a bad thing like some here believe, and while I dont love it in this instance, I get it. I think that Z, Kronwall, and E have been promised 2 more years together (most likely a promise to Z). If Holland were to trade E, and trade/scratch Kronwall, I could see Z no longer enjoying it here and just retiring which long term would screw us. Its much better for us if Z steps down in a couple years like Hossa/Franzen and goes on LTIR which I realize is not a given, but with his past medical issues, I'm sure will be something that is able to be done. I'm just picturing a 39 year old Z who has had multiple surgeries, and is likely in pain, and find it unlikely that a doctor will tell him, "nah, you should be playing, I cant vouch that you are hurt and could cause permanent damage if you play 4 more years into your 40's". Pure speculation and I admit that, but my gut feeling. Where I think the disconnect lies, is people think Holland is "loyal" to E, I think its all about being loyal to the captain.

It's done weekly, in the NFL they will do week 1 power rankings based on a 1 game sample. Wings are 4-1, so they are going to be ranked high.

I dont think Vegas really cares if they win or not this year. If they tool Mrazek it would only be if we gave him to them for nothing, and I highly doubt Holland is looking to dump Mrazek for nothing.

AA and some cap (ie. a Glendenning), and MAYBE a draft pick I would assume.

I think what throws some people is that Mrazek is the better athlete, but that doesn't mean better goalie.
