    Tippet and Arizona part ways

https://www.google.ca/amp/www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/report-arizona-coyotes-head-coach-dave-tippett-parting-ways/sn-amp/ Come on Kenny....get it done!
  2. I have two words for you.........Toews sucks.
  3. Can we just all agree that Sproul has the style of an offensive defenseman who struggles to put up point at the NHL level? Come on guys, this civil war needs to end.

    McCollum back

A team that see's potential in him with the right goaltending coach. Though that team would need to leave him on the roster to avoide a Frk situation, and there isnt a team I can think of that would have Coreau in their top 2.

    July 1, 2017 UFA DAY!

They were contenders back in the early 2000's, post 2005 lockout though, I agree that they have been pretty horrible.

    Development Camp

It's nice hearing about Hronek! If he and/or Cholowski turn into stars it could very easily change narrative of the Datsyuk deal.
  7. Of the 4 (XO, Sproul, Marchenko, Jensen) that came up over the past few years, XO has always been the one that impressed me the most watching him play. Sproul was always the one I had/have the highest hopes for, but I really like XO and this is encouraging to hear!
  8. Can't say I love that. I am totally fine with this guy being in the Cleary, Andersson role (ie. being a healthy scratch who comes in here and there when needed) but I hope he isnt getting the Drew Miller role and playing 82 games a year.

Get Ready for McDavid Hype Machine

I understand what you are trying to say, this is the world I work in every day, but it doesn't work that way in the NHL. The salary cap is not linked to net profit, it is linked to overall revenue or gross sales. IF what you are trying to say, is that by McDavid taking a pay cut, IF the Oilers do not spend to the cap ceiling, then McDavid is basically leaving money on the table so his owner can get richer, then yes that is a valid point. If the Oilers spend to the cap ceiling, nobody is making more money because of it as the Oilers would then be capped. It would just likely mean that their 3rd and 4th liners are making a bit more as the money is simply being distributed differently. Not to mention, the PA cannot force McDavid to sign or not to sign a contract. As far as #2 goes: "Decreasing PROFIT (from increased cost [higher salaries]) leads to the owners generating more revenue to maintain/increase profit." My interpretation of this statement is that you are saying that if the owners are making less money, they will then in turn generate more revenue. (I'm guessing you are implying they will be more motivated). I'm pretty sure that NHL ownership has motivation to increase their revenue's with or without their net profit being above or below a certain point. They may struggle in certain aspects of it, but I just can't see the NHL NOT exploring new revenue streams, or NOT increasing existing revenue's based on their net profit. These teams ALWAYS want to increase their net profit. And in the case of a cap world where salary cap is linked to revenue, it is advantageous to both the player and the league to increase revenue's, not just one side.

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Frank, I would LOVE that contract, but I just don't see it happening. Especially with arbitration pending.

I still don't see how McDavid's contract effects the PA when the salary cap is effected by revenue. Think of it like a pie chart, the higher % McDavid gets, the lower % someone else gets. You are making it sound like if McDavid get a higher wage, everyone gets a higher wage. If it were MLB a sport with no cap, then I would agree with you, the NHL is different.
  12. lol, yes of course. My point is that fans will complain regardless. Second half of your post, I 100% agree with you. It's a fine signing as long as he isnt mis/over used.
  13. How can one be upset over a 14th forward who will likely spend most nights in the press box? People have been upset for years that we don't have a legit fighter and haven't since Downy, now that we have one they complain about the signing. This just plays into my theory that even when Holland does a good move, or even an inconsequential move, people will attack because it's Holland. There is plenty to criticize Holland over, this is not one of those things.

Get Ready for McDavid Hype Machine

Bob McKenzie reported "Original deal was expected to be $13.25M but hearing McDavid wasn't comfortable with the number and may have insisted on lowering it..." Not sure if you are being serious or not, the comment about him being perhaps the best player ever already makes be think you are just trolling people. Assuming you are being legit, if this is the case, how does this reflect poorly on the PA or even the owners? Hats off to McDavid for doing what's best for the team and the players on the bottom. Not sure why you are linking this to the salary cap, the Salary cap is directly linked to overall revenue, not the salary of the top player. With that being said, if I am McDavid I am pretty pissed if the Oilers don't spend to the cap now.
  15. According to Capfriendly.com he does not have a NMC or a NTC, and it says the contract is confirmed. Craig Custance did report that Daley has a full no-trade clause for the first two years and a modified no-trade in the final year, but based on CF, this appears to be wrong.

If Towes and Kane set the bar at just over 10, this is more then fair for him the more I think about it.
  17. The point I was trying to make is that fans like to give their opinions from a far, but in reality they don't know every variable at play as much as they think they might. There is nothing wrong with giving your opinion, but when fans start to confuse their personal opinion with facts, that is where I begin to lose respect of a person's post. I'm not even really directing this at you, I think you tend to post in a very cynical tone (though it's kind of your gimmick), at times hyperbolic, and sometimes a bit childish (ie. Trashill, the post above) but you don't tend to post in a way where you make firm assumptions based on nothing. For the record, my comment was not directed towards you at all, my comment was in response to the poster who was going on about Holland being an idiot for even discussing the idea of Larkin playing on this team. I think there is nothing wrong with questioning Holland. I admit you are not, but some others have been ripping into this kid. Off the top of my head, I can already remember Lefty creating some some nickname (like errection, errorson, francine etc.) in the draft thread.

    Off-season moves

You're making a joke.....right. The Average NBA player doesnt make 71.75 million per year. Maybe LaBron does, but that is if you count endorsements.

Ken Holland "We protected our best goaltender"

Howard did last year with the same 5 in front of him as Mrazek. Howard is a great goaltender, just can't stay healthy.
  20. Fans have a tendency to cling to something when it comes to improving their teams. "get rid of Babcock and we will be good again" "if we could just dump E things would change" "All we need is a right handed D-man" etc. etc. etc. Right now the narrative is "when Holland leaves, things will turn around". Personally, I don't believe this is true. If ownership wanted a complete re-build, all they would have to do is tell Holland and he would have no choice. Do I think ownership has anything to do with the minor moves like trading for McCollum, or who they draft etc.? No. Do I think ownership has a say on the big picture? To quote Mr Austin, hell ya. I would put money on it that the task given to Holland by ownership is to turn the team around, while keeping it competitive and maximizing revenues in the process. If Yzerman or any other GM is brought in, IMO this is not going to change. Seriously? Where did you even get this from? They likely discussed it, but in the sports world you should have a discussion about any decision regardless of how "obvious" it may sound. People who make decision without discussions are emotion based thinkers, you don't want that running your team. Your post represents a lot of what is wrong with fan opinion. We as fans are only privy to certain pieces of information, sometimes genuine, sometimes BS, sometimes planted by the organization, sometimes planted by opposing views with an agenda, or created due to a need to sell their voice. You bring up Sheahan/AA, I am not saying I agree or disagree with that, but I will be the first to admit that I don't know what goes on in practice, what goes on in meetings, or that I watch every player, every game, every shift, as that is clearly impossible. Coaches watch the games, re-watch the games, and dissect everything these players do. If they see a future in AA, then now is the time to pick these things apart to maximize the probability of him reaching his maximum potential. To simply say "AA was he has been ready, is ready and the nights he was a healthy scratch in place of guys like Sheahan is a joke" is short sided and likely an opinion you have created due to frustration. I am not even a fan of Blashill, but lets not pretend to know what he or anyone else in the organization knows. If we did, we would be working for a professional sports team.

    Targets for the Wings

I actually hope we do sign Vanek to another 1 year deal, because I feel if we did Holland would be more likely to make a trade for a d-man.

    Ken Holland contract extension watch

To be fair, I dont think Dickie is defending Holland for his 2017 roster, just read his posts, it's clear he is not happy with Holland (not that Dickie need me to speak for him). What that post is, is essentially a breakdown of what Stevie and Holland have done as GM's. There resume's so to speak. If I could have Yzerman or Holland right now, I would probably choose Yzerman because he is a more pro-active GM, while Holland seems to only make small moves. But let's not pretend like Yzerman has been a perfect GM, he has made many mistakes.

I didnt agree with the move, but he's right. Jimmy is the better goalie right now.
