04/09 GDT : NJD vs DRW : 5 PM ET Last Game at Joe Louis Arena
kliq replied to NerveDamage's topic in 2016-17
According to Google he is 58. -
So, Nyquist ended up finishing the season with 48 points in 76 games which is a pace of 52 points in 82 games. Are you willing to admit now that under the right circumstances he can hit 60? With the right center Nyquist can put up numbers, the perfect spot for him would be playing 2nd line with a center of Z's capabilities.

That was an awesome experience! Really proud of the way they played tonight, and it was really cool to see all the old favs in person. Sheahans first goal was awesome, crowd absolutely exploded! -

Well definitely not the King, he is no longer the goalie you are remembering. Price would have made a huge difference though, I really think you underestimate the parity in the NHL Frank, Put an elite goaltender on this team, a 1A d-man, and a top center and we look like a completely different team. Just look at the Leafs last year to this year, or the Oilers adding McDavid, before McDavid/AM both of those teams were a joke. I get what you are trying to say, but if that was true Jimmy would have stats just as bad as Mrazek which he does not as he has a GAA of 2.15 to Mrazek's 3.04 and a Save % of 92.6 to Mrazek's 90.1. If Jimmy doesn't get hurt and keeps up those numbers, we are likely a playoff team (not contenders, but the 8th seed). I will agree though, our D is more of a problem then Mrazek. Last night in OT is a perfect example. -

That's just not true. Mrazek ranks 44/46 in Save% and 44/46 in GAA, these are worse stats then Pickard (Colorado's starter). Mrazek has played in 49 games this year, more then Howard (25) and Coreau (14) combined. My point being, our goaltending has been awful this year. -

This Sunday is going to be crazy IMO, I have a feeling they are going to be coming left and right. -
Well we all knew it was coming, but after tonight's loss it became official as we were officially eliminated from the playoffs. http://www.espn.com/nhl/standings We have the "e" next to us, it's a bit surreal. http://www.espn.com/nhl/recap?gameId=400885525

Well if the owners of their teams let them, that is a different story but I dont see that happening as so far only 1 owners has that he is okay with it. -

Well back in '94 I think it was all jr. players. Here was Team Canada's roster as an example: I remember Paul Kariya being the young stud of the team. Corey Hirsch,Manny Legace,Allain Roy,Brad Werenka,Derek Mayer,Mark Astley,Adrian Aucoin,Chris Therien,Brad Schlegel,David Harlock,Ken Lovsin,Paul Kariya,Petr Nedvěd,Todd Hlushko,Chris Kontos,Dwayne Norris,Brian Savage,Greg Parks,Greg Johnson,Todd Warriner,Fabian Joseph,Wally Schreiber,Jean-Yves Roy source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey_at_the_1994_Winter_Olympics -

Your ignoring the insurance side of the debate because you enjoy watching the players stick it to the owners. I'm not pro owners, however the reality of the situation is that the owners are the one's with the power here. The biggest stars are the one's with the most to lose. -
Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

I'm guessing he was thinking "led the '08 team" due to his Conn Smythe. -

Why do you keep pushing this narrative in every post? I get you dont care for the owners, but you make it sound like the players will do what they want and their will be no ramifications. The owners have all the power here legally speaking whether or not we as fans agree with them. I don't think a player would be stupid enough to go against their team's wishes. I am pretty sure (I admit I need to fact check this) that if they suffered a career threatening injury while playing hockey on a team outside of their own against the teams/NHL's wishes, that player would not collect another dime from the NHL. For some players we are talking big money here. Is it really worth it? -

Come on guys......no civil war needed. Who is going to rid the pool of bacteria if the lifeguards are going at it. -
You were advocating to bring up a player who was struggling in the AHL to play in a top 6 spot mid season. At that point we were trying to make the playoffs. What's happening now, is they are eliminated from the playoffs, and are calling him up as an emergency call up. In addition, he has gotten his game together in the AHL. Completely different situation. With that being said, lets see what the kid has!

That would be nuts. Can you imagine if a team didnt make the playoffs by a point or so and the same particular team lost the most players to this and went say 0-5 in the those 2 weeks? I cant see it happening, especially if insurance is involved. -

That is such a BS statement, if anything the majority of fans do not want his jersey retired. The Wings are damned if they do, damned if they don't, so to say choosing one over the other is a slap in the face is just wrong, and this is coming from someone who wants it retired. A slap in the face would be if a guy like Lidstrom or Yzerman were kept off because Illitch didn't like them personally. -

Can I ask where you read this? I was not aware that it was built into the CBA that players can leave mid season to play in tournaments with zero ramifications. Are you speculating? I feel that there would be some type of ramification, even if it's as small as being docked pay for time missed. -

Do you mean with the exception of Zetterberg? Because Holland literally said his is going up. -
I feel like we are just going in circles, my point was that they were trying to do what they did between 2002 and 2008. If the kids became superstars like last time it would have worked, it didnt.

Ya the parity in the NHL now a days is crazy. It just goes to show you how much of a different a couple players can make. -
I think you misunderstood my comments, I was not saying they did not care about the streak, you are right about that. I think they were trying to do both (cup and streak) and just failed.
