Why are everyone's posts showing up twice?

This is not good

Here is a thread Dickie made in February about him, lots of back and forth and opinions to read.

Ya, you nailed it. From a business perspective, parity makes sense as it leads to more fan bases actually watching/going to games come spring. From a fan perspective of a team like the Wings, it sucks. I miss the days where a bad contract meant nothing other then it's effect on net profit.

Are you talking in 5 years from now?

12/19 LGW GDT : Red Wings vs Hurricanes : GAME CANCELLED
kliq replied to NerveDamage's topic in 2016-17
I feel there should at least be a discussion as the Wings had to fly-out to Carolina and prep for the game only to not play due to negligence. Its one thing if its a storm or snow etc. But if you can't freeze your ice, I feel that a forfeit should be at least a possibility. With that being said, I get why they wont do that. Imagine if this was a game 7 or even a winner gets in the playoffs game. They probably dont want to set a precedent that could bite them in the ass later. Full disclosure, I didn't read what happened. I am assuming from Dabura's post that this was due to negligence. -
Holland does plenty wrong, I just don't throw blind hate at him because I am looking for a scapegoat. I use logic to dictate my feelings about this team, management, coaches, and players. Logic tells me that ownership gives a GM a direction, and the GM moves forward with said direction. If Holland's direction is to make the playoffs and to re-build at the same time, no I dont think he is the villain that you make him out to be. Does that make him perfect? Of course not. Why can't you just admit you were wrong? You wanted to give a guy 4 years at 4mil per year, and when everybody told you that he was not even close to worth it, you fought with every poster and then he signs for 2 years at 1.25 per year proving that you were way off with your assessment of him and you still defend your point, even providing false +/- stats to make your self sound right as he is -3. Not that arguing +/- makes you sound right anyways, My point is you rip into Holland for signing long term contracts and say that you have been warning everyone for 5-6 years, but then at the same time you advocate for one yourself that would have been atrocious and one of the worst on our team. If you want us to go with just kids, why would Schenn at 4 years and 16mil be a contract you would want to hand out?

Wins are not a better indicator of a goalies performance then GAA and save %. If Mrazek is getting more goal support, that is something that will likely even out as the sample size get greater. Goalies cant score goals. Despite saying my point is invalid, you are wrong and here are actual stats to back that up. Mrazek started the year as the bonafide starter. Mrazek started 4 of our first 5 games but let in 12 goals (ie. played bad). 12 games into the season, Mrazek started in 9 games to Jimmy's 3 which is 75% (more then normal for a starter) and in those games Mrazek continued to not play well in comparison to Jimmy. Mrazek lost the starting job because Jimmy outplayed him. If he outplays Jimmy, he can get it back. Blashill has actually been pretty consistent with goalies. I'm guessing you just don't like Jimmy and are ignoring the stats. I cant blame a coach for playing the clearly better playing goalie when a coaches mandate is to win games. If you want to bash Blashill for his other dumb moves, go for it. But this is not one of them.

I wonder if he will actually play. Lefty must be ecstatic right now lol.

You can't look at every game a goalie plays as "punishment" for the other goalie. Howard is playing because like it or not, he is the starter and Mrazek is the backup. If Mrazek wants the job back, he has the opportunity to take it back just like Jimmy did this season. Also, wins are not the best marker to evaluate a goalie. He still did let in 4 goals which on most nights would equal a loss.

I dont think this week defines anything. If we go 3-0 I could still see us not making the playoffs, if we go 0-3 I could still see us making the playoffs. It's too early.

In regards to Larkin and Mantha, what I was going to write pretty much lines up identically to what you already put. Same for Marchenko. You may very well be right about AA, the guy is a good player and you can tell by watching him that he has something that alot of kids don't. I dont see him ever becoming elite, but I can see him as a very good 2C. I am a bit higher then most on XO, I dont see him being a top pair or guy or even top 4, but I think he is going to end up being a very good third paring guy. I think Sproul has top 4 upside, he brings something offensively that none of the others in his age group do, hopefully he can get better on the defensive side of things. I worry about Jurco, I feel that the potential is there, but I just dont see it coming to fruition on the Wings. I hope I am wrong, and it wouldn't shock me if I was, but he is a guy I see being traded at some point for a pick, or being lost on waivers. I think Bertuzzi is going to be a solid 4th line guy, nothing more nothing less, though I admit I have barely seen him play. Mrazek is the one I could literally see going in any direction. I could see him being a Vezina quality goaltender, a solid above average starter, a below average starter, or someone who fades away never to accomplish anything. Gun to my head, I think he is going to end up being something special, I just hope the coaches on the Wings can bring it out of him. Only time will tell. The rest I dont know much about and havent really seen play. I just cross my fingers that one of those D-men turn into something unexpected and can become the #1 D-man that we so desperately need which is very possible given how many of the elite d-men in this league our low end picks.

I dont think a good team in 2016 has Frk on 3rd line and Russo in the top 4. Frk will likely never get there, and Russo is just not ready from all reports I have read.

I'm pretty sure that by the end of the season it pretty much even's itself out. You really cant look at that kind of stuff in a bubble by the week.

You're right with the Saad move, as long as the Hawks have a prime Kane, Keith, Seabrook and Toews and surround them with good goaltending and solid depth, they will be fine. With that core he can pretty much get away with trading anyone else. I would love to see what our roster would look like with Keith and Seabrook as our 1D & 2D.

No I get it, its the end justify the means kind of thinking. I cant even say you are wrong, sure I dont agree but its just a case of both of us wanting the same thing, just thinking different paths are better to get there. I almost look at tanking in a similar fashion to spending all your money to play the lottery. If you win (ie. Edm/McDavid), Chi, LA etc. you are thrilled and become a millionaire (ie. Cup winner). Though like the lottery, most people lose and the risk just leads to going broke (ie. Edmonton pre McDavid, Columbus, Atlanta/Win, Carolina etc.) Even with Edmonton/McDavid, while I think he will be a HUGE difference maker, he doesn't guarantee them a cup.

I have a very hard time cheering against my team. I get your logic, but I cant help but think that if we draft a player who ends up being a bust, how much of a waste an abysmal season is if that's the end result. Tanking scares me given how rarely it works. I remember I used to get excited every time the Lions got a top 5 pick, but then after constant busts (Harrington, Rogers etc), and successes that still couldn't rid of the losing culture (Calvin, Stafford) I realized how drafting high guarantees nothing. It doesn't even guarantee becoming good let alone becoming a contender. Imagine if the Wings decided to tear things up shortly after 2002, one could have easily created the argument that from 03-06 we only got out of the first round once and major changes needed to be made. You could have argued to trade Lidstrom for a top pick as his value was super high. Had Holland listened, 2008 never would have happened. Don't forget, at one point D and Z were looked down on just like Tatar and Nyquist are now. Not that Nyquist and Tatar will ever get to that level, but again hindsight being 20/20. Now I'm not saying our roster post 2008 is the same as our roster post 2002, my point is that it is easier to point fingers after the fact. When you are in the moment and the person actually calling the shots, its a lot harder then it looks especially if you are given a direction by your owner which I strongly believe is the case with Holland. I truly don't believe Holland could tank if he wanted to. We saw this already transpire with DD/Illitch a few years ago.

I 100% agree with the first part in bold. I would put money on it that Chicago will suffer the exact same fate in about 6 years and come that time fans will turn on Bowman just like the fans here with Holland. As far as the second bolded part, I guess it all depends on the Wings opinion of Chychrun. If they had no intention of drafting him, you cannot argue the trade as it was a steal for the Wings. If the Wings did want him, but gave him up to rid of Datsyuk's contract, then you are right and it was a bad move. I agree about the Nielsen deal, I didnt like it either. Hopefully Cholowski exceeds expectations and makes this a moot point, I think we can agree to hope for that.

Unfortunately for us Frank, the league has changed the CBA to a point where this doesn't mean s*** anymore. The league is designed for parity, big names rarely move, elite players will make the most money by staying with their existing team (ie. not hitting UFA), being an original 6 team means nothing, UFA is filled with average players who always end up getting overpaid, trades don't happen outside of minor moves at the deadline, the list goes on and on. This is the NHL in 2016 as you cant just spend money to get ahead. The difference in payroll from 1st to 22nd in the NHL is 10 million. To give you a comparable, in MLB the difference between 1st and 22nd is 133 million. I dont think you have to worry about the new GM having an issues, Holland isnt going anywhere.
-
He is the person saying that he's wanted a tank job for 5 to 6 years, but he is also the person who wanted to give Luke Schenn 4 million per year in the off season.
-
What are you talking about? You make it sound like the Wings get points in WAYYYY less games then everybody else, but when you compare them to the teams surrounding them in their own division, its pretty damn even. *please note I am not saying the Wings are equal or not equal to any of the teams listed, my point is 100% in relation to the getting points in less games* Detroit has played 32 games this year and gotten a point in 18 games Boston has played 33 games this year and gotten a point in 20 games Ottawa has played 31 games this year and gotten a point in 20 games TB has played 32 games this year and gotten a point in 18 games Florida has played 32 games this year and gotten a point in 19 games

I think his point of referencing other teams is that everybody is looking for a quick fix since so many teams are in the same position. When you have that many teams in the same position (ie. playoff bubble teams), you dont have many teams looking to give up major assets. I dont think his comments are meant to read "I want to be just like every other team!!!".

Goalie aside, they played well tonight. I cant remember the last time they were forechecking and playing as gritty as they did tonight. Tatar's one goal was a fricken weird one though.

What happened to Green?

This we agree on. Joseph, Osgood,Howard all were irrationally hated at different times.
