Of course he could just be saying that. He could also *not* just be saying that. My point is that speculation based on bones that are getting thrown to the media is futile. Maybe he'll leave. Maybe he'll stay. We won't know until we know. I'm not hanging my hat on anything that's said until that statement is "Mike Babcock has/has not re-signed with Detroit." -

Does this come as a surprise to anyone? He would be foolish not to take himself to market to see what the actual going rate for his services is. That will inform how negotiations with Detroit will go moving forward. Doesn't mean he's leaving. -

A KNUCKLE SAMMICH Backes is a guy I've always dreamed of having on the Wings, he reminds me of Shanny kind of. Was super disappointed in his playoff performance this year. -
