there's goalies in the league that can stop breakaways. The scouting report on howard is get it above his pad
-
yes! tatar doesn't need much of a chance
-
howard left the whole top part of the net wide open
-
that puck was going in unless he shot it at howards crest
-
scoring chance is always a goal with howard in net
-
our top pairing is roooough
-
Ericsson is lost now thats a stretch pass
-
oh nvm looks like they'll cut to detroit after the pre game show expecting a pissed off bruins team. Hopefully babs lets the best players have the most ice time.
-
anybody trying to watch this in canada. Supposed to be showing detroit but the feed is calgary chicago
-
I would love to solidify our defense but trading Mantha is too risky. Would you rather trade Nyquist/Tatar? I don't know. Tough decision
-
Part of the responsibility is on the forwards as well. I watch LA and they'll make 3-4 quick passes in the defensive zone and then fire up the outlet. Look and recognize the safe play that will give you space. Forwards have to be back as an option. Puck support in all three zones To be honest I don't think we've been that bad. Smith's play was just a brain fart, an attempted quick pass for a forward but nobody was supporting. Howard had plenty of time and Kronwall just has to stay on his feet. We had time to make a play just goofed it I do agree we don't handle a tough forecheck well. You can tell the wings are playing well when they're making those quick one touch passes to break down the forecheck. They made a lot of smart plays like that against Boston, not so much against Anaheim

Nyquist is as exciting to watch as Datsyuk. I expect him to get a nice long term contract when the seasons over. It might be wise to try and sign him early before he puts up godly numbers
-
I honestly think Babs is trying to get a rise out of Weiss so he goes h.a.m when he gets called up. If he can't outplay Sheahan he shouldn't be in the lineup
-
I like that kronwall addressed that he needs to stay on his feet there. The defense in general was a level better against the Bruins although DD has been nothing but solid both games. Ericsson's play has been concerning
-
Also I said in preseason the magic duos would be Zetterberg-Nyquist and Datsyuk-Tatar. Z and Gus were instant magic last night I bet we win the game if that line stayed together all night, even though I loved what Abby brought as well. Jurco seems a tad nervous but still doing good things. There's not a lot to complain about but I still must complain after a loss.

I can't really blame Howard for the last two goals it's just frustrating because one way or another the guy just can't get it done. He's paid a lot of money to win games. I'll be the first guy to say he played great if he did but I haven't seen a 5M dollar goalie performance out of him these first two games
-
They're deflating goals. Getting scored on their first shot while we were dominating, giving up a goal on the following shift after going up in the third and to top it off losing the game in the final 30 seconds. Howard's one consistency is that he always gives up untimely goals which is imo the worst trait a goaltender can have. I want Howard to snap out of it and return to form but what happens when the wings have an off night where we don't completely outplay the other team. We won't have a chance
-
You think he outplayed Rask? Debatable. Rask definitely was the busier goalie with higher quality scoring chances. Jimmy still let in his signature back breaking goal but the team responded. Always an uphill battle with jimmy in net
-
lets keep track of how many times howard outplays the opposing goalie. so far he's 0-2
-
it's just that every scoring chance is in the back of the net. I never noticed a single big save from him. We were dominating in the 3rd and he lets in two on there only two decent scoring chances. Obviously a good team is going to push hard and you have to expect your goalie to make a save on a good scoring chance at least once a game. but none today and we lose
-
Howard makes a big timely save every 5 games
-
I blame Howard the most for this loss. The one gimmie goal was completely on him and it seemed like the ducks only had 3 good scoring chances all of which went in. Against Bostom we were dominating and he gives up one on the first shot. It's so deflating it effects the whole team
-
I'm starting to really resent Howard. He seems like a good guy but that contract is ridiculous and there's no way any of his teammates can have any sort of confidence in him. 1 good/decent game 5 bad ones repeat.
-
with such a great effort the margin of winning shouldn't have been so close but that's Howard's fault. If we had a goalie with any kind of mental toughness we win this game
-
you don't let somebody walk right into your crease he didn't even have the angle on kesler he planted himself in front of the net and was puck watching
