Also get nothing for Quincey who teams are interested in and let him walk a la Flippula. I think you call this GM style "winging it" If teams trade him superstar players for scrubs then he will do it it's not like he's actually going out and finding players in an attempt to make our team better. Yes thank god we won't have a top 4 defensemen for years to come. The last 3 years teams have all gotten better around the league and we have stayed the same. There's no way ouellette will be an effective top 4 by the time datsyuk's contract is up -

Why would we want a legitimate top 6 forward to play on datsyuk's wing when we have helm who is almost as good defensively but in his 30 games in 3 years is a "warrior" -

Erhoff isn't going to restrict us from signing a #1 defensemen even though there are none available. Think of him as a Quincey replacement which is an upgrade. There's no guarantee we'll be able to sign a better defensemen then Quincey in the summer in which case we'll have to resign him or he walks and our Defense is as bad as it's ever been. Then you waste another year being a fringe playoff team. -

I don't think a lot of you know the kind of player Kesler is. It's like adding another Datsyuk/Zetterberg. The guy can put up 30 goals and win a selke. Fast, physical and a great shot. That is one of, if not the best top 6 in the league if we add him -

Next draft is weak. You'd be fine with missing the playoffs if we got to pick 4 or 5 spots earlier? If we don't trade for Erhoff then we are going to have to resign Quincey or take another step backwards on Defense. -

If we landed Kesler and Edler (not saying it's likely to happen) I think we would be contenders -
Some of you are over valuing Tatar. He'd be very lucky to end up with a career like Kesler. There are guys his age putting up 25 goals around the league.

I'd go for Erhoff. Solidifies our top 4 and we can let Quincey walk in the offseason. Much needed offense that doesn't stop dead after the first pairing. Get him for cheap with that huge contract. We have a log jam of prospects ready to make jump to NHL with no room. Just makes too much sense -

I bet we can unload Tootoo on Vancouver. Kindl+Andersson+Tootoo for someone like Burrows? RH shot, got size and can skate and decent physically. He could be had quite cheaply and we clear up some room
